We have money. How do we buy users with money?

you can’t. you have to attract a group of people that will be hard to attract. plus not a lot of people like them…

Telegram creator threw money out of a window.
Well, for 5,000$ a month you can pull down 1,000,000 Twitter posts. That's 33,000 posts a day , about 1/3 the daily posts nostr has now (according to nostr.band 80k). So you pull these down, create keys for em, and setup some grouchy AI bots to reply sporadically to anyone that replies to the mirrored posts.
So, for 15,000$/mo you could double the amount of daily nostr posts with all kinds of content that would diversify the topics significantly.
Anyway, that's what other platforms do to bootstrap, they make fake content and/or pull it from an existing platform to seem like there's lots of users until the bootstrapping phase is complete.
Did somebody say airdrop?

More non-social apps using nostr as backend?
Buying people with money has become easier then anytime before in history.... INFLUENCERS 😆

People are set in stone with the username and password mentality. Maybe long nSec string scares them away 🤷.
Giving people one click login will absolutely give them a better experience but it will still require initial set up I guess.

More local nostr meetups and not just one big unconference far far away every few months. Local gatherings might make a big impact.
I would rather see a $15,000/mo airdrop to all Nostriches with a valid NIP-05.
Use that money to inform unaware users, tell the story of why they need nostr, and why we build
Maybe a Bitclout scheme on top of Nostr will go a long way.
Spend it on those models that post pictures of themselves in their underwear, those seem to get plenty of engagement.
Nvm, the simps seem to be picking up that bill already.
I hired a bunch off fiverr, but they didn't stay after the job was done. 🙄
Perhaps it will be bitcoin that front runs Nostr. When number goes up more people flock to bitcoin, and when they join that community then they reach for freedom in other areas like Nostr. Not to mention a large part of the existing bitcoin community will point them that direction as they come in.
Short: Zapertising
Long:
I used to work in digital marketing and growth as both a marketer and a programmer. The user acquisition cost is very high for traditional centralized platform/website/softwares.
In one of my job, a paid user cost us 3000 USD to get. Meaning, if this person don't spend 3000+, the company lost money. That's why many Silicon Valley style companies lose more money with more users before they reach monopoly and they have to squeeze money back from users at that point.
Because we separate the cost of client development, relay development and relay operation, it will be much cheaper to do digital marketing here.
For example, I can develop a advertisement platform on top of Nostr without paying the whole cost of the network, therefore I can charge clients (sellers of goods) much less and/or give ad watcher cash back from sellers' advertisement budget.
Now we have achived an impossible triangle in fiat world:
1. Lower cost for advertiser (ad distributor)
2. Lower cost for sellers
3. Get money to watch ads instead of pay money to block ads.
I believe this is a great way to get more users and I am actually working on getting some VCs interested in this plan. If we can use VC money to grow Nostr, it believe it's a net win.
I love that we're talking about growth hacking a protocol
As much as I dislike the growth hacking originated from Facebook, it's indeed effective.
Buy ad-space?
I have no idea why this was the first that came to my mind and I feel rather guilty lol xD
Ugh. Fine. I'll submit a request marketing plan and attempt to travel all over to various events and conferences promoting Nostr.
a permission to lock account x app for 1 week
and get 10000 sat to zap / key ?
Diversity of content is lacking at the moment. (Or maybe there is no depth to the diversity.) Users joined and get bored with seeing the same topics and memes dominate the feed. And they leave.
I suggest some budget is directed toward incentivising people to consistently post short-form / micro-blog good content that is not cryptocurrency focused. (I am not against cryptocurrency, but it is still a niche topic.) Do this until we have a level of critical mass for diverse content.
How do we know when we reach the critical mass? Maybe set a target for number of MAUs that you want to reach? Personally, I prefer not to have a certain target, but to set a time limit on the incentivisation and measure the impact. MAUs before vs MAUs after. Then adapt the incentivisation and repeat. {MAU: monthly active users}
The impact of this approach will take time to show sustainable result, but this might be one of the flywheels that can sustain growth. From HubSpot: "With the flywheel, you use the momentum of your happy customers to drive referrals and repeat sales. Basically, your business keeps spinning."
And maybe slow down adding more and more to the protocol? Let all nostr clients and relays to be on par with each other on most of the NIP implementations. Big parities in NIP implementations affect user experience noticeably. {NIP: nostr implementation possibilities}
Another bonus is that when the apps are mostly at parity with regard to NIPs, they can invest their development energy on improving their apps user experience. Better user experience feeds back into the flywheel above.
Create merchandise, which looks weird, but in a "cool" way.
Limit its supply to a very low amount for no reason.
Make it super expensive for no reason.
This is the perfect recipe for making a brand, that seems so exclusive & "cool" that people want to join it.
This is based on the idea around how sneaker & other clothing brands are doing it. It's also similar to NFTs. Create some shit, make it weirdly limited & exaggeratingly expensive & suddenly its artifical as well as senseless exclusivity draws people in.
Second that.
Like, I get why people are excited about #Bitcoin & shit, but come on.
Recently, I actually visited #Nostr less because anyone worth any popularity shit on #Nostr is some #Bitcoin freak talking about #Bitcoin 24/7, as if you could eat, drink & use it as a toy.
It'a really difficult to find people, who do not speak about #Bitcoin literally the entire day & don't even know what time it is, because they count everything in block time...
$5. PayPal did it and Coinbase did it. That's 17k sats.
6000 users per btc.
Really? What's your reference point? There's far less moonbois clapping and threads here than twitter had, no?
Those were KYCd users to reduce abuse. Keeping KYC out of the equation means limited zapping or some proof of work.
We could send satograms giving everyone with a lud16 lightning address identity set in their profile sats periodically.
I don't think this potato story is a success story because it's harder. I believe it's more because of excitement. Stealing / bribing / doing illegal stuff is wrong but can be exciting
Just wait for hyperbitcoinization.
I mean that got the bitcoin wizard meme going on reddit. Let's just do that on twitter.
It's funny how you say that, while your profile is filled with posts, quotes & boosts related to #zaps, #Bitcoin & everything else related to that topic... 😂
Haha. I guess I've been blinded by the orange lights 🤷♂️
You don’t.
You buy them with your heart and soul.
Shit !
I wanted to write “you gaine them”, my synapses need some rest.
I can help
but remember
God works hard
But marketers work harder
we attract users based on their decision
Q how more n best can we reach out !
We could pay for them to delete accounts! Proof of Exodus.
