To each their own. I have a few friends who think this way. I am happy I chose differently.
Real estate never struck me as particularly appealing. The government can tax it, they can tell you what you can and can’t use it for, they can control the rent you charge, force you to let squatters live there rent free, and can even seize it under eminent domain laws. And you can’t transport it, spend it, nor can you own it anonymously. It’s a messy and time-consuming business. I’d rather be a renter and store my wealth in bitcoin instead.

Airbnb landlords at scale are soulless garbage. I fucking hate airbnb as a long timer user and do everything I can to avoid it. Real estate is not meant to be used for getting rich and lording over people but for life and society.
Rent seeking at scale is immoral in a context where people just can't afford to buy their primary residence
Airbnbs are even worse than leases because they are utilized less days of the year.
