It’s true. The biggest impediment to understanding bitcoin is not intelligence. It’s ego.
You have to re-assess something you previously dismissed. You have to buy in late compared to what you could have done earlier, and accept that. You have to embrace the fact that you are but a tiny node on a network that nobody controls.

"buy in late"
buy what? Bitcoin is a fairy tale
Beautifully said Lyn
we’re all tiny nodes 🫂
True!
Good words
I tell all my nocoiners friend that #Bitcoin is an ego test.
They get offended and that’s the whole point
This is what caused me to fire my financial advisor. No humbleness or acknowledgment of ignorance in learning that bitcoin out performed his financial recommendations by 10.
Elon has won the fiat. He’s #1.
He’s dis-incentivized to adopt or encourage a system where he’s not #1.
Who cares anyway. Elon pumping bags seems like altcoins 3 years ago.
The ally of truth isn't intelligence. It's humility.
Usually the first response is “what’s the price?” and from there they will do anything to defend themselves from not getting in earlier. Usually doing logic somersaults to dismiss you
A catch with this is many of us OGs never dismissed Bitcoin. I certainly thought it could work the first time I read the white paper.
Problem is, what are people like myself missing in other topics due to ego?

You are using a money printed out of thin air, backed by nothing, running on a machine of debt that can only be finches by issuing more debt to pay for the original debt and its interest that is ultimately all “purchased” by the same central bank that prints it from nothing. It’s the most profoundly empty and meaningless Ponzi scheme to have ever existed.
Fiat money is the fairy tale. #Bitcoin is the first genuine digital money.
it actually has more akin to a self fulfilling prophacy at this point. If you don't see that at this point, you're the one living in a fairy tale, Neo.
Shout out Ego Death Capital @Jeff Booth

Mike Green’s ego is massive. FTR: I appreciate his discourse around passive distorting the entire market, and many of his other analyses, but the man has a blind spot for BTC he can’t get around.
It will cleanse the egos of many people and it will be surreal to watch them transform.
Geocentricism has many faces.
They're both nonsense
Bitcoin only seems reasonable in comparison to the even greater madness of fiat
What a brilliant reply!
education
🙏
100%. But it is not only successful or famous people who are with ego, average Joe with BSc or MSc is the same. The most open minded people for bitcoin are working class people, the ones who are not brainwashed by education system, the ones who do not worship their titles or degrees.
This is my experience as well, and I can offer that understanding Bitcoin has helped me to understand the importance of ‘authenticity’ in myself, and those around me.
People immersed in Ego need to be told what is important from outside, from the top-down.
Authentic people learn what is important from the people around them that they respect.
It’s such a world of difference, yet so gut-wrenchingly hard for most of us to get to.
This is the way
Your work is great. You help me understand deflationary terms. Trying to move all my time to Bitcoin. Thank you Jeff 🙂
Yeah, they know they will lose their privilege in adopting Bitboin. And the more late they will be in, the more loser they will be. It's the mind game!
Some people may have other priorities, expertise and mission. Attaching not being a Bitcoin Maxi to simply being an ego problem is the type of belief I expect to find in a cult. Dumb and ignorant to human psychology.
Never argue against the bitcoin. It’s like arguing against gravity, thermodynamics, light or sound. Best to cooperate and embrace.
This is so true.
Not a fair assessment: scammers always want you to reassess. "Maybe he's Satoshi this time!"
After getting flooded by waves of bullshit in the form of altcoins, I chose not to waste my time. Maybe I missed some genuine innovations, but I also saved a lot of time and sanity.
With such a white-hot scamfrenzy, many of these people's introduction to "Bitcoin" was probably someone pushing an affinity scam.
That's a big barrier to overcome, no ego required.
Not to mention as part of their ego, why would they abandon a system that benefits them?
“The most powerful stream of water cannot add one single drop to a vessel that is already full. One might succeed in explaining to the dullest of men the most difficult of problems, if he had no previous conception in regard to them; but it is impossible to explain to the cleverest man even the simplest matters, if he is perfectly sure that he knows everything about it.”

it's like spiritual enlightenment in that way — not the smartest but the most curious, the most committed to looking into the nature of things rather than justifying one’s priors.
Right on! 🎯
Thank you!
Indeed, ego is a great obstacle to learn new things, but in my opinion laziness plays a more decisive role.
The sofa is our greatest enemy, the ultimate factor why most of us hardly commit any time on the problems of the "Res Publica" ... so politicians have occupied that large void to sell us comfort and security.
If understand #Bitcoin, but undermine it, isn’t that evil?
The irony is that remaining open to financial freedom tech stack solutions which involve the use of #Bitcoin + other cryptos are also an ego test. #AskNostr
Wow big shout out to my crypto expert, I invested $1,000 and got back $6k just after 6hrs of investing, y’all dm him now and get paid today 🥳🥳@iron Elon Musk
Well said. It feels really uncomfortable to me that I can have tech devices running four different OSs and no-one is haranguing me for that. Meanwhile, there is a lot of talk on #Nostr about freedom and anti-authoritarianism, but the #Bitcoin maxi groupthink is strictly complied with and reinforced.
As always, it depends on the #reason. No action can be weighed without #context, as no object can be weighed without knowing the gravity of the planet it's weighed on.
I think that's one thing some bitcoin advocates get wrong. They sometimes believe #bitcoin is good in every context. there;s no such animal!
Well you certainly put my point more aggressively :)
Playing Golf is better 😂
Now that's where I lack #context. #Golf is one of the few #ballgames I've never played :)

Stop your shilling!
And it takes even a deeper level of understanding to keep buying or buy for your first time at these levels because it's still early. Bitcoin's industrial use cases are not priced in. They might be to a certain extent by bitcoiners, but not by the rest of the world. I forget who said it, but it will get to the point that bitcoin's intra-day movements will be in the $60k range and we won't even notice.
Yes. Especially when your partner has been telling you to do it for years and you’ve blown it off.

Fred Krüger doesn't _really_ get #Bitcoin.
In my circle of friends, coworkers, neighbors, relatives, pub mates and that one barista that knows my coffee preferences literally no one has any Bitcoin.
I wouldn't "buy in late" I'd be the first one. (Totally hypothetically of course.) Do you even go out and talk to people sometimes.
Or I've been living in a bubble of weirdos totally detached from reality all these years and I just never noticed lol.
