something about being able to load thread roots first, so that if you somehow have 1000s of comments from all your friends it wont drown out the top level posts? a very obscure situation that basically never happens. with limit you get all of the latest posts on the network amongst your followers, so the existing way of doing things was basically a nice little preload for free. people just overcomplicating things because thats what people do.

I love the simplicity of damus and I use it everyday for 3 years now, intensely. I shill damus to every IOS user that is interested in Nostr because I genuinely like it. but whatever. It's saddening that I can't interact with my all of my nostr fellows freely through simple notes by using my favorite client. I'm trying to get the downside of making this change. I just want to be able to see 1111 replies on my normal notes and reply to them. no interoperability on such a basic level sucks. If it doesn't make sense to you, all of nostr should know and not just on a side note.

I thought it was rather having one identity for different purposes. Do I really need 5 different public chatting clients when the issue I have is within those public chatting abilities? simple kind 1 notes with simple replies? thats basic. A dilemma for every user right now, no matter which app they are using. but you're right, thats it with an open protocol, it's difficult. With my limited knowledge, I can't decide which option is better. As a user, I'm forced to find a neutral option right now. I'm tired of switching apps just to find a comment.

They're not even displaying them? I get choosing not to post that way even if I don't agree with it, but every day I wonder why Primal is even installed more and more. Haven't opened it in like a year.

Sorta bummed nostrudel seems to have flatlined. It was my favorite web client especially on my lower horsepower machine. Ditto's fine but a bit bloated, and having to jump through hoops just to keep zaps on lightning and denominated in sats almost feels like an affinity attack. Yakihonne's still a bit of an old faithful too but more and more it's been down when I go to use it. Honestly would love grimoire made a little more general purpose. Kind 1111 replies make that easier, but things like adding a follow are still missing, so it doesn't quite stand on its own (and in fairness it doesn't try to -- I just sort of wish it would as I like the UI).

*Displaying* kind 1111 notes isn't harmful. The change is already halfway through all the clients. It doesn't make sense to hold back on displaying them, even if you still use kind 1 to make replies.

i think its fine for displaying them in quoted repost / nevent references. but i'm not going to upend the kind1 architecture for no reason. if there's anything in nostr that we can rely on in that, but i guess not anymore. sigh.

I would do that on a dime, that's the easy part. The 100x hard part (in my opinion) is the Apple App Store gate keepers.
