FINALLY trying out Nostur. Also, using relay.tools.
๏ฟผI can finally see all the notes again. Thank you @cloud fodder ๐ซ

Woooooo!!
Cheese is gonna be so proud๐ญ๐
Sweet! You gone graduated haha!

Iโm a little confused still because I have wayyyy more options

The synchronization through relay.tools is a remarkably efficient architecture; itโs fascinating to observe how network latency becomes a quantifiable constraint on data propagation.
Relay.tools coming in clutch! Happy scrolling. ๐
You created a relay?
I think so? More like he did it for me ๐
Thank you!
@Noshole did relay.tools fix it, or was it the switch to nostur? the missing notes problem is almost always relay coverage rather than the client.
She's not taking enough credit, she signed into the web with a nostr signer on feeds.relay.tools. this is no small feat for Apple people..๐

Can anyone read and write to it?
I actually have no idea lol
I did something ๐คทโโ๏ธ๐
Itโs both. Thereโs certain kinds that damus didnโt show
What was your issue?
I'm still mourning the loss of my favorite pair of underwear from this morning.
What was the problem this solved? Is it because of Damus relay shutting down soon? I definitely see discrepancies when I try to remove the Damus relay
Damus iOS does not do outbox, so it only reads from an unchanging set of relays, and you have to get lucky to see your friends posts. Outbox model reads from a dynamic set of relays where your friends post, so it can see all their notes by connecting to 2 or more relays from *their advertised relay lists. The feeds.relay.tools pulls in notes using outbox so that a client that does not do outbox can just connect to that relay and see them. Nostur does it's own outbox in addition. So, now instead of no outbox, there are multiple ways to read your outbox.
If I understand correctly, this is a solution for Damusโ lack of outbox. Is it useful for other clients too?
I think it is, I use a client (RelayTools-android) that only connects to one relay at a time for it's feed, so I can use less data, check my notifications, and have a quicker app. Then it connects to other relays only when I'm posting, to send the post. If apps support this type of mode, it can be helpful yes. I think amethyst might partially support it. It's like having a fast cache of the notes from your network, always collecting them in the background for when you want to read them.
Ah so this is also good to save battery and bandwidth? I could connect this relay to Nostur and just use the one to read data from my โconstructed outbox from relay toolsโ. Can I also write to this relay?
Depends on the client, I cant try nostur but Yea you can write to it, others can also tag you and write to it (it has personalized wot turned on by default for those direct posts but no filters for the feed itself, that depends on your own relay settings and your follow list). I don't use it as a main relay its not in my relay list, I only use it like a cache.
I guess what I mean is, I already have a bunch of relays, and I use this one as my main "browsing" a feed type source, because yes it saves TONs of bandwidth and battery. I rarely use a client that assembles a feed, because it's just faster this way and I feel like it works just as well by offloading the construction of the feed to the relay. I've used nostr like this for a year+ now, I used to run this same setup on my raspberry PI and I liked it so much I decided to finally make it a service.
In Nostur, thereโs a relay feed option. Is this relay something I could use there, you think? I donโt see an option for caching server.
Sounds promising. Yeah try it and let me know how it does! ๐ถ
Which options do I need to choose on relay tools to build a relay like this?
go to https://feeds.relay.tools, and sign in and select the basic plan to start.. Then if you like it, you may want to try the newlay one later. (this is a new project, relaytools 2.0 basically, and it lives at feeds.relay.tools). Sorry if that's confusing :) We tryin' haha
The newlay one is the one we were talking about?
Any of these, will do the outbox feed gathering. But I think it works best on the "outbox feed" (strfry based) or the "newlay relay" (a new relay) ones.
Excellent! Iโll give it a try tonight!
Thanks man
no problem, looking forward to hearing how it goes
It doesn't use my nip65 relay list? Fuck outbox
You use iphonz?
I don't use any phonz but was curious.
well, outbox doesn't suck. Its name does tho. It should be called, regular nostr
Glad you could explain it cloudy
Seems like Nostur supports it

Damnit node. You already surpassed me๐

Me and my homies hate connecting to 100s of relays to pull garbage that ruins their relay-curated feeds.
@cloud fodder Iโll check the battery usage tomorrow and report back. ๐ซกToday doesnโt make sense since end of day soon
