I’ve gotten solid feedback on this episode of @THE Bitcoin Podcast with @Big Bad John (and of course some saying they didn’t like it one bit). I’ve learned that the vast majority of Bitcoiners just want moonboi Bitcoin NGU hopium mixed with macro death-of-the-dollar doom porn. How do I know this? Because I see which episodes get the most traction. Bitcoiners may say they want “different guests and opinions” on Bitcoin podcasts, but their actions tell a very different story… The numbers are clear. That’s why even though Saylor has done 69,420 podcasts and everyone has listened to countless hours of him, the majority of people will still watch any new Saylor conversation over some lesser-known person. This isn’t a dig on Saylor, it’s just reality. That said, if you are one of the minority of Bitcoiners who enjoys having your preconceived notions challenged, and have the ability to approach uncomfortable topics with an open mind, I encourage you to check out this conversation with John. Continue doing what you are doing. In the past year, I’ve learned that not all Bitcoiners are created equal. Some recite Bitcoun’s principles, while others embody them. One of the best talks I ever heard was about Bitcoin’s weaknesses inside the cellar of a medieval castle in Germany. It was a pure and honest discussion with a primary core dev and a dozen other participants.
I listened to the full episode. Imo perfection doesn’t exist, everything involves trade-offs. Whether BTC is called money or not, it’s the best close to money we have right now.

Dude, I loved this episode. Perspective is a mother fucker man…..too many ppl have blinders on. Folks who always think “number go up” got it wrong. And folks who only think bitcoin is the answer to all investment strategies are just wrong.

Really?! I throughly enjoyed it. I like to hear what @Big Bad John has to say. Albeit a little harsh, with sprinkles of pessimism, #Bitcoiners need to ingest it all and decide for themselves.

PCR goes with the 1000 true fans approach. If we don’t focus on the culture we want to see who will. If we chase carrots we become the carrot.

This was a great show. It's important to challenge one's echo chamber. Even better when it comes from a veteran Bitcoiner
This podcast was sobering and in many ways and had so many objective truths. Bitcoin doesn't, can't and won't ever scale well (under its current design). The numbers don't lie. Have a look at the mempool over the last few days - average of 70k unconfirmed transactions piled up. @walker keep it coming and well done. I hated listening to this podcast but at the same time loved it. It brought me back to Earth - and I want more of that. More reality, objective truths and different lenses. Zap to you Walker. well done.
A well thought out alternate perspective is very much appreciated. Thank you for having this conversation! Reminds me of the conversations I'd have with quality and security engineers. Sometimes it feels like they are raining on your parade. In reality they are helping create something better than you could have alone and you are fortunate to have their contribution. Iron sharpens iron.

I get the sentiment, and it must be tough to put out bitcoin content. You know that hopium meme? I actually consciously know that’s what I’m looking for sometimes. Sometimes I just want entertainment (I find good conversations entertaining) with some extreme optimism. Other times I’ll take doses of reality.
For what it’s worth, I really enjoyed the episode. John’s take is different than others and that is refreshing because it gave me something to think about. You’re right, a lot of folks get stuck in their ideals but usually it’s just parroting of other people’s ideas. This is not a Bitcoiner thing though, it’s just human behavior. Keep giving us people who think different, and maybe more Bitcoiners will learn to embrace the original cypherpunk ethos again.
