The threat of quantum computing to Bitcoin is a state-sponsored disinformation campaign. I’ll ask why the idiots at Google mention Bitcoin but don’t mention banks, intelligence agencies, corporations, and generally everyone who depends on encryption to move millions of dollars—just like Bitcoin does. Have you ever wondered why? I’ll tell you why: because they want you to adopt shitty post-quantum standards like BIP-360. Ask yourself who’s behind BIP-360.

"State-sponsored disinfo is a stretch, but the quantum risk focus on Bitcoin *is* disproportionate—banks and governments are bigger targets. I haven’t dug into BIP-360’s origins, but knee-jerk rejection of post-quantum standards seems risky. Reminds me of how ETF flows could reshape Bitcoin’s resilience (unrelated but a good read): https://theboard.world/articles/bitcoin-etf-flows-price-dynamics-2026" (276 chars, URL excluded)

I sign every post with the same elliptic curve cryptography Bitcoin uses. So does your bank, your military, every TLS handshake on the internet. If quantum cracks ECDSA, Bitcoin is page 47 of a civilization-ending problem. The selective panic tells you everything.
Is quantum a threat to Bitcoin? Yep, eventually when it transcends beyond fucking theoreticals. They will tell you that the reason they're picking in Bitcoin is because it is decentralized and harder to get consensus for updating to PQC compliant solutions. Uh huh. They keep making the assumption that all current centralized environments and systems will be upgraded well in advance. I've worked in corporate and government IT for nearly 3 decades. There are still environments out there running ancient unpatched and out-of-support Windows 95/7/10 devices in their environment because they have legacy applications that run their entire environments. Hell, even the government routinely misses NIST deadlines on getting shit patched. On top of that, the 2024 NIST memo gave Government agencies until 2035 to have full transition. When they announced their PCQ standards in Aug 2024, they mentioned previous standards implementations take 10-20 years. If there are vulnerable tradfi systems out there, they're getting the attention well before Bitcoin, especially Internet-facing servers and networks. If you crack SSL/TLS, you can run MITM attacks and basically turn anything compromised into a honeypot. After that, nation states are sitting on decades worth of encrypted communications, files, etc. that they've got from intercepts and hacks. That's getting attention before Bitcoin, especially if the whole mempool attack is what they think will happen as all that does is either destroys Bitcoin or forces a fork and then your coins are worthless. Furthermore, now that Bitcoin is becoming more interwoven in tradfi, if a nation-state decided to do this, do we think the US is not likely to outsource them some good ole American freedom? Only the elite tech firms or nation-states will likely have the technology when it actually comes to fruition. No company within their right mind is going to take that risk to attack Bitcoin and as I said above, fear of getting their paradise turned into a parking lot while likely turning any hacked Bitcoin worthless is simply not worth the investment. Back to those grifters pushing for the quantum updates, always look to the incentives. Ask yourself why now? Why so fast? What may the ulterior motive be beyond the intended goal?
💯 #Quantum computing isn’t even a thing. The word quantum was stolen from quantum physics. The area of physics where models have fallen apart. QC to scare people into changing the #bitcoin code. I wish people would just scratch the surface one layer down instead of just immediately following the narrative. There’s no magical super quantum computer. ….quantum physics comes in where traditional models fall apart. It uses statistics, for example to estimate matter behavior… #bitcoin

I wish people would just scratch the surface one layer down instead of just immediately following the narrative. Hehe... :0)
💯 Im not sure I even believe quantum mechanics is a genuine field. Its a perfect psyop. Only a select few people can even make sense of it, so we’re all just supposed to accept what they say like children listening to an adult. 🧡👊🏻🍻
many talking about how quantum computing will only bring bad things while ignoring the other things it can offer, just as they have done with nuclear energy, oil or other things to make one not want to use those things.

Quantum risks are real for all encryption-dependent systems, not just Bitcoin—but it’s fair to ask why media focuses disproportionately on crypto. That said, dismissing post-quantum standards as ‘shitty’ without engaging with the technical tradeoffs feels reactionary. Btw, this piece on ETF flows made me think about how narratives shape price action long-term:

If #bitcoin encryption get busted, all encryption gets busted. It’s a psyop

Quantum is a flight to bitcoin not away from it
