Choices for appliances still exist. Vehicles are getting harder. Some companies are moving most vehicle functions to these ridiculous screens and it sucks. I had one go out om a 2025 recently and everything tied to it stopped working. Thankfully it was just the radio, bluetooth, and backup camera on this one, but some manufacturers are moving climate and many other functions to these displays. Part of my issue is that they are huge and distracting (and doing things without looking and digging through menus is much harder), but the quality is also hit or miss. They also make it nearly impossible to escape having your traveling recorded. It's no longer as simple as turning your phone off, not having one, etc. Many functions like the outside temperature has gone from a sensor to geolation weather data (as an example). They've basically attached a phone (with constant cell data) to the car and there's little escape from it as they tie more function into the dashboard computers. All closed source too.
