That's a nice gadget, that's it. You won't use it in the real world when something like that is really needed, because nobody else around you has one. Plus: your cellphone will barely last one day even in standby mode and you will soon discover that coverage for that thing is god-awful with obstacles between both parties. We are talking about a reach of 30 meters, you might as well be shouting to your neighbors instead of using fancy devices. Real-world useful tech are sneakernets.

No, just to play around. There are 0 users around me. I’ll have to give one to someone or just message myself 🀣
Scarce need to imagine far away, that kind of world happens today around the globe when you look with attention. A few eastern parts of Europe included in present. Imagine yourself with geo-blocked internet access, unable to fetch stuff from aliexpress and troubles to even keep your phone charged with power. Sneakernets become more useful than LoRa clouds.
Ohhhhh, shiney new T114s! I've been eyeing them but really dont need more nodes right now (said no one ever). Tell us how it goes!
Zero hate, experience. Have all of those gimmicks here at home, even the newer T-Decks. Even wrote plenty of software for LoRa and ESP32. Get a few of them and watch them gathering dust as very few around you will ever get them too.
Sounds like a personal problem. I regularly get strangers popping up to say hello and occasionally someone on an airplane flying over.
Just admit you never tried LoRa yourself. Notice that all the pictures on the page you linked are taken on beautiful sunny days on high-located places without obstacles. It is a nice gadget, good for the geekies.. just not really something you'll really use outside videos for instagram/youtube. Meshtastic has been criticized enough for holding back development on this topic if you ever pass long time inside the community. You can receive LoRa on your backyard from 2000 kilometers away: https://tinygs.com/ But trust me that it won't really work for more than 100 meters inside a forest, with buildings or foggy/rainy days. I've tried it for months, maintained ground stations (which get damaged in less than a year). One thing is theory, the other is practice.

Is sneakernet with deadrops on LXMF a better solution?

Where's the best place to connect to? I just tried setting up Sideband, but I don't know how to connect to any people/groups
Those are good news. My apologies for my previous reply, in hindsight I was rude without a need for that. You are correct that signals can be picked by small propellers at low altitude. I read too quickly and assumed commercial airliners at 10 000 meters. My apologies, I've learned something new.
