Seems like even that wasn't enough to help them understand bitcoin.
Most normies/nocoiners are so beaten down by and expectant of banking blockers and customer service hell that they see Bitcoin as just an even more confusing version of all that (because they only end up interacting with the legacy banking side of the equation at first). ..Rather than the fix that it actually is.
This happened to my friend who I finally onboarded onto Strike after a long battle. She set up a DCA (nice!), but her bank cancelled it on their end after a couple weeks.
"I don't know - your Bitcoin app thing is broken, I can't be bothered with calling my bank again"
It has to be easier. We cannot call it the money of the future if the functionality doesn't match.
I will part with sats to get a newcoiner in. Have them pay you in cash or venmo, zelle, or cash app. Then help them set up a wallet and sent it directly to them. THAT experience shows what Bitcoin truly is.
We do this strategy with many family and friends we onboard. It's a great way to get their foot in, then we set them up with strike and bitkey for as long as it takes their bank to get it together. And we just DCA back the Bitcoin for ourselves. Consistently works out great for everyone.
There's a desire to have something better and frustration with the banking system.

what is happening in the screenshot? where are they trying to send from? Your point is well taken, but this looks more like an issue with a company as opposed to bitcoin..
they're trying to use cashapp, the problem is not on the block side, it's getting their bank to agree to send money to CashApp. The problem is getting in to / out of the fiat system.
Gotcha. I agree with you but this is not a bitcoin problem. The issue is obviously with the existing permissioned system
Important to help them see that. bitcoin has not even entered the picture yet.
using cashapp is not using bitcoin.
The only logical step is to crypto-ify the whole economy or else there will always be a fiat middle man capable of stopping it.
Take that how you will.
Create Crypto friendly fiat institutions, or completely replace them with institutions built on top of open protocols for Crypto.
it's easier for everyone to send me fiat with a remittance service and I'll send them back the amount as Bitcoin 😂 #regulations
“I’m going to skip Bitcoin”
Hmmmm okey buddy 💀

Disagree. It's good for beginners cause of the auto bitcoin roundups and auto purchase upon direct deposit.
It has rudimentary lightning support etc.
They can move it to non-custodial later
you do not understand the point.
Cashapp use bitcoin. You use cashapp.
+1 for this approach 👍🏼
This is too how I got my friends on board in 2 minutes: made them download Acqua wallet and sent them some sats with me next to them. They experienced how easy it actually is
hours, days, weeks of explanations brought absolutely zero result. Setting them up with a wallet and sending 5000 sats got them on board in 2 minutes…

Yeah, they got caught up before they even were able to convert cash to bitcoin, their bank wouldn't let them put money in cash app, the next step was buy the bitcoin in cashapp and send it to me. My point isn't to say everything is terrible, just this was my attempt at getting one person, who has no love for the government or banking system, to send me some money via bitcoin, and it proved to be very hard. Using cashapp as the onboarding, and Block does a LOT to make it easy.
