All op-return opinions aside: If everyone in a neighborhood says you can't come into my house naked and wearing a strap on, in no way does that mean the person is not free to do so, nor is that in any sense of the word "authoritarian." Liberty isn't everyone being forced to allow and support any potential "non-violent" action in every possible context or space. That argument is as absurd as saying that to think drugs should be legal you have to love heroin and want everyone to use it every day. image

Cory hasnโ€™t actually taken a position, he explicitly said today that he was collecting the best information so he could try to formulate some idea about. I donโ€™t think he is agreeing with this, probably just posting for comments, or possibly even thinking that the argument makes no sense.
Maxwell and Back need to make happy their handlers. I feel sorry for those who just now discover hat Blockatream was a Bitcoin takeover by banks more than a decade ago.

Honestly, objecting to "distributed authoritarianism" just might have been the dumbest thing to come out of this whole controversy - as it is just a scary sounding synonym for "rule by consensus" - which bitcoin itself depends on.
It's pretty weird how many folks resort to strained metaphors when trying to talk about complex nuanced technical issues. Let's ban metaphors, as Bitcoin is a chimera beyond comparison.
Inscriptions caused by Core and never patched in first placeโ€ฆโ€ฆ. Now suddenly letโ€™s get more garbage on the chain as having more garbage is now normal and you shouldnโ€™t filter itโ€ฆโ€ฆ.. There is no good use case for blowing open op returnโ€ฆโ€ฆ.
Yeah, that exact sermon there by nullc was both deeply wrong and insulting to me. Honestly, it's nothing more than someone trying to disparage Luke because of his faith. I don't care how far up the right you are on the bell curve... Ad hom is ad hom and that one was particularly gross. And to your point, I think whatever argument he was trying to make there was secondary. An afterthought to the insult.. And it's hard to imagine he really thought it through.
That was an insult aimed at the character of someone that disagrees with him. The metaphor was designed to do that more than it was to explain the issue. And for me, that's been many of the red flags that I've seen along the way. People talking about the inability of their opposition to understand because they're too stupid. Or too authoritarian or too religious. And then there's this technique that I see, shift to argumentum absurdum... then make a joke about it to disparage your opposition but not really make a point. Neckbeards might be better at insulting their opposition, but that doesn't make them right.
I respect Cory's approach. Perhaps it's because it's the one that I'm using and I agree with it. ๐Ÿ˜ I'm still making up my mind, although I feel it's solidifying fairly well now. More than anything, this has been painful because of how it has changed the image I have of people I have respected for years. That's a me thing, though, and I'm working on it.
Itโ€™s not weird at all, youโ€™re just upset that regular people can see through your jargon via metaphors and understand who has their best interest at heart. Youโ€™re playing theโ€œjust get vaxxed, I am an expert so just trust me because youโ€™re too dumb to understandโ€ card and no one is buying it.

If we ban metaphors you cannot call Bitcoin a โ€œchimeraโ€ and communicating ideas through language becomes impossible. This is incredibly dumb or manipulative to suggest using metaphors isnt possible with Bitcoin. Seems like a way to make people think they do not understand things that they do actually understand as a way to disempower them.

๐Ÿ”ด What Is Islam? ๐Ÿ”ด Islam is not just another religion. ๐Ÿ”ต It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham. ๐Ÿ”ด Islam literally means โ€˜submission to Godโ€™ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God. ๐Ÿ”ต It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone. ๐Ÿ”ด It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine. ๐ŸŒ The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as: ๐Ÿ“– { โ€œSay, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.โ€} (Quran 112:1-4) ๐Ÿ“š ๐Ÿ”ด Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus. ๐Ÿ”ต Rather itโ€™s going back to the original teachings of Jesus and obeying him. More .....๐Ÿ‘‡ ๐Ÿ”ด THE RETURN OF JESUS
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth and of all things seen and unseen. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, begotten of the Father before all worlds, Light from Light, very God of very God, begotten not made, of one essence with the Father, by whom all things were created. Islam rejects that Christ.

Every metaphor is flawed or it would be a direct reference to the original object, otherwise known as a synonym. Is this sophistry? Many people want Bitcoin to remain a decentralized monetary network without potentially damaging features meant to meet use case desires of companies who want to use Bitcoin for broader applications. There, no metaphors needed.

Again your manipulations. > It's a joke in the sense that you can't ban anything. That does not mean you welcome and allow anything. You can't ban people sending the police to your house but do you welcome it? You hid your location after that incident. In that context you excusing csam is just disgusting. > But it's serious in the sense that all metaphors tend to be flawed. You just made this up. You have a statistics? Or just nonsense.

Taking my ability to filter my node as I see for is taking away my ability to speak my values. I run knots because it allows me to transmit the mempool that I believe in. THAT is freedom.
