Session Recap: Learn Chama Own Your Money Yesterday's session with Jetty from Chama was an insightful, interactive session on how Chama enables peer to peer trading with no third parties involved. What is Chama? A peer to peer marketplace for trading Bitcoin, goods, and services within your community no company sits in the middle. Users sign in with a cryptographic key (the Nostr standard) instead of email or password, and select a "community" based on their country and currency. How a trade works: Every trade moves through clear stages Reserved β†’ Locked (funded in escrow) β†’ Delivery/Payment β†’ Released β†’ Claimed β†’ Settled. Safety is built on a 2-of-3 escrow : buyer, seller, and a community arbiter two of the three must agree before funds move. The arbiter only steps in during disputes and can never seize funds outright. Fees: Chama itself charges nothing; a small optional 0.5% insurance premium (split buyer/seller) goes to the arbiter backing the trade. Cashing out: Kenyan users enjoy instant M-Pesa payouts via Tando; other regions can use local partners, Lightning, or onchain Bitcoin. Between trades, balances stay at zero nothing for anyone to freeze or drain. Bottom line: Trust the math, not a middleman. Big thanks to Jetty and everyone who joined from Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, and Malawi! πŸ™Œ https://x.com/i/status/2078363230888493070

Payments are not just background infrastructure β€” they shape opportunity. They determine who gets access to the global economy, who actually gets paid for their work, and who is able to scale beyond borders. For freelancers and online businesses in Africa, payment systems can either unlock growth or quietly limit potential. On 7th February 2026 at around 8:00 PM WAT / 10:00 PM EAT, our founder Graysatoshi will be joining Bizmerchant Money Flow Session as an invited speaker to address a critical but often overlooked topic: receiving international payments. This episode is focused on the real challenges Africans face when earning online β€” delayed payments, high fees, restricted platforms, frozen accounts, and limited access to global financial tools. Instead of surface-level discussions, this session will go deep into practical solutions that freelancers, creators, developers, and online entrepreneurs can actually use. During the conversation, we will explore: Reliable methods for receiving international payments without unnecessary friction Tools and platforms that make cross-border payments easier for Africans A clear comparison between traditional payment rails and crypto-based rails, including Bitcoin and fiat How these systems differ in speed, cost, accessibility, and censorship resistance And most importantly, what the future of payments could realistically look like for Africa This is not just a tech discussion β€” it’s about economic inclusion, financial freedom, and building systems that work for people who earn, sell, and build across borders every day. If you are a freelancer, run an online business, accept international clients, or are building payment solutions for Africa, this conversation directly affects you. πŸ“Œ Set your reminder on X (Twitter) today and don’t plan to miss this important session: πŸ‘‰ The future of African money flow is being discussed β€” be part of it. image

Week 4 of our Bitcoin Tanzania Developer Program, built on the Btrust Builders Education Pathways, is officially in progress, and we are excited to continue our learning journey together. Each week of this program is designed to strengthen technical understanding and practical skills for anyone interested in building within the Bitcoin ecosystem. Tonight, we will be covering Chapter 8 of the curriculum: Digital Signatures. This is a fundamental topic in Bitcoin development, as digital signatures play a critical role in securing transactions, verifying ownership, and maintaining trust in a decentralized system. Due to the importance and technical depth of this chapter, it will be taught over two days β€” Wednesday and Thursday β€” allowing participants enough time to fully grasp both the theory and real-world applications. We are honored to have today’s session led by Emmanuel Kufre, Founder of BlinkDeFi and Co-organizer at BitDevs Uyo. Emmanuel brings valuable experience from building and supporting Bitcoin-focused developer communities, and his insights will help connect complex concepts to practical development use cases. Get ready for an engaging, hands-on session as we continue building strong Bitcoin development skills together. X πŸ‘‰πŸΏ image

Hello Tanzania πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡Ώ, We are excited and proud to officially announce a special virtual Bitcoin meetup happening this weekend on Saturday, 31st January 2026, hosted in collaboration between BitcoinSafariTz and Cashwyre. This session is designed specifically for Tanzanian tech enthusiasts, Bitcoiners, freelancers, and digital entrepreneurs who want practical knowledge on how to easily convert their digital assets into cash β€” instantly and reliably. During this interactive Google Meet session, we will dive deep into real-life, practical ways of converting Bitcoin (both On-chain and via the Lightning Network), as well as USDT and USDC, directly into local cash using cashwyre.com. This is not just theory β€” we will walk through how the process works, what tools are required, and how anyone in Tanzania can benefit from fast and seamless crypto off-ramping without unnecessary delays or complicated steps. Many people hold Bitcoin or stablecoins but struggle with one major question: β€œHow do I turn this into spendable cash quickly?” This meetup is created to answer that question clearly. We will discuss the advantages of Lightning Network for speed, how stablecoins fit into everyday transactions, and how Cashwyre is helping bridge the gap between crypto and real-world payments in Africa. Whether you are a developer, freelancer, trader, student, or business owner, this session will give you valuable insights into modern payment rails and how to stay ahead in the fast-growing digital economy. There will also be room for questions, discussion, and shared experiences from the community. πŸ•— Time: 8:00 PM EAT / 6:00 PM WAT πŸ“ Location: Google Meet πŸ”— Secure your seat here: Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, connect, and grow with the Tanzanian Bitcoin community. See you there πŸš€βš‘ image
