A new and improved Tando is just around the corner! We've listened to all your amazing feedback and have been working on a refresh of your favorite bitcoin spending app. Here's a preview of what's to come and a call to any heroic Sats Spenders that want early access.

1️⃣The #1 feedback since launch is "We want Tando in Country ___!" so this redesign sets us up for that future. Gone is the simple 4-box grid. Now we have a flexible vertical button layout that gives us options to expand where there are more/less payment types. Payment buttons are more descriptive, and we have recent transaction history integrated right on the main screen.
Note: we will launch this new version of the app first in Kenya before we add other countries.
2️⃣Another big improvement is the display of recipient names -- IF you have sent to them previously. This should greatly reduce the dreaded situation of sending to the wrong number. You now get visual name confirmations before the funds are sent!
We also reduced the number of steps in a transaction by combining the currency conversion step right into the final preview payment step.
Time is money, and Tando saves you both!
3️⃣QR Codes are ugly. And since Tando isn't a wallet app, it doesn't make sense to display that ugly thing so prevalently. Tando is for humans, so machine-readable QR codes are tucked away, but still easily accessible if that's your jam.
4️⃣Not much has changed with the payment processing screen since it's a crowd favorite. Just a slight refresh to match the new vibes. If it ain't broke, don't try and fix it.
5️⃣Not everyone knows of the secret feature to show/hide the Bitcoin bits of the receipt. So we've made it a bit more obvious with the 3 swipe dot indicators.
6️⃣Wait, did you say THREE swipe dots? Yup. There's now a 3rd receipt display type to mimic SMS receipts. Plain and simple without any Tando branding. Those matatu conductors won't even know what app you used for payment or what currency. Super stealth.🤫
7️⃣This was another very popular feature request. We have so many power users that live entirely on bitcoin thanks to Tando, and they needed way deeper transaction history. Now you have it! You can finally see all your bitcoin transactions from 2005! 😉🤣
8️⃣... but wait, there's more! You can now also search your transactions by recipient name, filter by transaction type and filter within a specific date range to track down that proof of payment you might need to resurface.
9️⃣ which brings us to another HUGE request. People have wanted a way to replay transactions (or contact lists was another similar request we heard). Now from your transaction history screen (which is searchable and longer than 10 most recent) you can swipe left/right on any transaction and it will quickly fill in the same exact payment details -- except the amount. Just type in the new amount and you're QUICKLY replaying that exact transaction. No typos. No mistakes. Quickly launch your lightning wallet for final approval!
This is SLICK! Wait until you try it!
🔟 We're adding a few more settings options as well with a better menu system including quickly reaching us with any burning questions, or maybe more feedback that we can incorporate into the next app update to make it even better. Just like this thread!
Soon we'll have in-app DMs so you can messages us without ever leaving the app for even faster response times. All via private & secure NOSTR chat.
1️⃣1️⃣ Speaking of NOSTR... Did you know that since there is no sign-up necessary for Tando we auto-generate a public/private key pair as your unique Tando App ID. That keeps your transactions private. It also lets us give you Tando backup & restore! With this new app you'll have access to your private key that will let you backup your Tando app, and even migrate it over to a new device when you upgrade your phone. All your transaction history will be preserved.
1️⃣2️⃣ And finally, another BIG request from iPhone users is a way to change the default lightning wallet app. Apple doesn't make it easy, but we skinned that Apple! You'll now be able to set a preference on which Bitcoin Lightning wallet gets opened on your phone when it's time to make the lightning payment.
Oh, and you can choose your preferred display of BTC, showing all 8 decimal places, or the much shorter "sats" display. The shorter version will be the default, but it's always customizable in settings and will be used throughout the app so there's never any confusion.
