Good morning, Nostr ☀️
Today I’m improvising alongside some of the music from the film Koyaanisqatsi (1982), with its mesmerizing score by Philip Glass. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a kind of visual essay… described as “an essay in images and sound on the state of American civilization.”
It’s a montage of slow-motion and time-lapse imagery, all without dialogue, just Glass’s repeating minimalist textures driving it forward. At the time, it was one of the highest-grossing art film/documentaries ever made, and it’s become a classic, still relevant today.
Here I’m playing over the very beginning of the soundtrack, when the music is sparse and open, just adding my own melody on top of this gorgeous, slow-moving music.
Hope you enjoy 🎻

Good morning, Nostr 🌞
Hope you’re having a great day wherever you are!
Today I’m playing something a little fiddly. Sometimes I like to try to improvise a tune, rather than improvise totally freely. It’s a fun exercise… to try to come up with a melody that feels memorable, something to repeat, something that could become a real tune.
It’s really more like composing in real time. I’m thinking about melody, shape, structure, variation, and groove, all in the moment.
I really liked the melody that came out at the beginning here and tried to circle back to it at the end (not sure I totally nailed it, but that’s part of the fun!). I also really like the groove in this one. I think it has definite potential to grow into a real tune someday. 🎻✨
Hope you enjoy, and have a wonderful day!

🎹 Good morning, Nostr!
Today I’m checking in with a little improvisation using the choir setting on my keyboard… a peaceful, slightly strange and medieval sound world!
Now that I’ve passed my 8 weeks on Nostr milestone, I’m feeling inspired and excited to keep my daily creative flow going … let’s see where the music leads next.
Hope you find a little calm and curiosity in this one🌤️🎶

🎻 8 Weeks on Nostr!
Hard to believe another 4 weeks have gone by… now we’re at 8! In that time, I’ve shared over 50 daily tunes, improvisations, and musical moments… from spontaneous solos to orchestral releases (link in bio!).
💜 The support from this community continues to amaze me. I really feel that in the daily interactions and the periodic “viral” moments when there’s a frenzy of engagement. Every comment, repost, zap ⚡️, and kind word encourages me to keep going. You’ve made Nostr feel like a real home for me and for musicians and artists in general!
A huge thank you to everyone who’s been along for the ride — whether you’ve been here since the beginning or just joined recently. Special shoutouts again to some of you who have been my biggest supporters!

Keeping the Coltrane train going… here’s a joyful little improv to his rendition of the Sound of Music tune “My Favourite Things”… because Nostr is quickly becoming one of mine!!
Here’s to the next 8 weeks of music, connection, and experimentation! 🚀🎶

Good morning, Nostr 🌞
Today I’m playing along with one of the greats, John Coltrane, on his beautiful tune “Naima”. A few days ago I shared a duet with Miles Davis on “So What”, and this time I’m stepping in with Coltrane’s band, weaving a little solo of my own alongside the piano.
I first fell in love with Coltrane in my early 20s… those waves of sound 🌊, his famous “sheets of sound,” really spoke to me while I was learning the art of improvisation. It’s a joy to revisit that influence today 😊
Hope you enjoy, and hope you have a beautiful day too.

Good day, Nostr 👋
Hope you’re all doing great! Today I’m playing around with some music I really love… “Music for 18 Musicians” by the minimalist composer Steve Reich.
This piece is an hour-long journey of pulsing chords, rhythms and textures. Because it’s so spacious, it actually works beautifully to play overtop of… so here I am, just vibing with it a little.
It’s wild to think this music can go on for an hour, evolving slowly the whole way through. Anyway, hope you enjoy this little window into the beginning of it.
Thanks again for all the love on my recent posts! 💜💜
