GM! I'd just like to say there are too many people out there staring at charts and the price of bitcoin. Wondering if Friday's meeting will rocket bitcoin's price. If the strategic reserve is only Bitcoin or will include some other mix of tokens. It can get exhausting. Focus on the long-term. Disconnect and go do something productive. Bitcoin will still be there when you get back.

I really like Twitter/X—not so much because of the platform itself, but because of the community and the access it provides to people who would otherwise be difficult to interact with. However, a platform that can suspend an account like @npub13u9l...yd8u (assuming it's really him here on #nostr), for any reason, is a problem. The core issue is that Twitter/X is a business at the end of the day. Management may have the best intentions, but they ultimately have to act in their own self-interest. That’s completely understandable—I don’t blame them at all. A similar situation recently occurred when Apple dropped end-to-end cloud encryption (data protection) for UK users. While I’m sure Apple and Tim Cook genuinely value privacy for all, as a company, they have to prioritize their shareholders’ best interests. When the choice is between removing end-to-end encryption or losing the UK as a market, the business decision is obvious—especially when viewed from a bottom-line perspective. Unfortunately, markets reward short-term results more than long-term strategies. Over the past few months, "unbanked" has shifted from being a conspiracy theory to an openly acknowledged reality. Some individuals, startups, and even established businesses have been restricted or outright banned from having banking relationships in certain industries. Several have talked about this including @jack mallers . When others control your speech, privacy, and money—do you really have freedom? I don’t think so. That’s why cryptography and end-to-end encryption are such a big deal—privacy is a basic human right that everyone should have. That’s why Nostr is such a big deal—uncensorable, decentralized speech with no way for anyone to suspend an account. That’s why Bitcoin is such a big deal—uncensorable, decentralized money that you control, and no one can stop. The future looks bright with these tools. We just have to embrace them and fight for our right to use them. It makes sense why @jack has chosen this same path from cryptography, to bitcoin, to nostr. It makes sense why others like @ODELL , @Gigi , and others are also strong advocates. NGU (number go up) is great and all but it's just a cherry on top. Don't take these tools for granted. A strategic reserve should be for scarce and critical assets like oil and gold. Commodities which can help the nation in case of an emergency. @npub15xqg...9rv7 proposed the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve (SBR), this makes sense as bitcoin has properties worthy of being in a strategic reserve but including other digital assets seems like a way for some projects to profit from the proposed bill. What’s best for the USA (and the world) is the SBR, not a crypto stockpile. If it’s crypto stockpile or nothing, I rather have nothing. Why? Honest question: Why do so many people want Ross Ulbricht pardoned today? Is it because his sentence was extremely harsh? According to GPTs, a fair sentence for crimes similar to Ulbricht's might be: - Drug Trafficking: 15-30 years - Hacking: 5-10 years - Money Laundering: 10-20 years Aggregated, possibly 20-40 years concurrently, considering first-offense, no proven violence, and potential for rehabilitation. He’s served 11 years and 3 months. Best explanation I’ve seen is by Rep. Thomas Massie @Thomas Massie and his short video posted on X/Twitter. He argues that he set up a website which enabled others to sell drugs and those drug dealers are already free while Ross remains in prison. To play devil’s advocate, you could argue that the website enabled thousands of illegal transactions - including, as some allege, listings for murder-for-hire. If true, the punishment might fit, given the site's total reach. I’m genuinely curious because I don’t know enough about Ross or his case. I’ve seen many calling for his release (#FreeRoss) and would love to understand their perspective. Personally, I think Ross has served enough time. Double life plus 40 years is excessive for a young person who launched a website and got in over their head. At the same time, I see the potential real-world harm the site may have caused, especially if murder-for-hire claims are true. If it were me, I’d hope for the benefit of the doubt and a chance to prove I’ve learned from my mistakes.
