Bread and circuses I was struck by the widespread enthusiasm and captivation surrounding the Cricket World Cup, especially the depth to which some individuals delved into spouting statistics about batsmen and bowlers. I couldn't help but wish that people were half as impassioned about understanding the inner workings of the world, particularly in the realm of finance. The way Central Banking seems to have turned us into unwitting slaves, all while maintaining the illusion of freedom, left me pondering. Perhaps if we dedicated similar fervor to tracking not only the taxes levied on our earnings but also those on our spending, and delved deeply into contemplating how advancements and improvements in production should realistically lead to a decrease in the cost of goods and services. However, the invisible tax of inflation often skews this reality, pushing prices upward. In the office, the radio is a constant companion. My initial observation centred around the frequency with which the radio mentioned cricket in the days following the final match. However, what truly stood out was the relentless repetition of "BLACK FRIDAY." If I had earned a dollar for every mention of BLACK FRIDAY, I might have become a millionaire by now. It's worth noting that BLACK FRIDAY originated in the U.S., where it falls on the day after Thanksgiving. Origins of Thanksgiving, in the fall of 1621, the Pilgrims and Wampanoag people joined together in a three-day feast to celebrate a successful harvest. This event is often considered one of the first instances of what would later become known as Thanksgiving. The participants gave thanks for the bountiful harvest and the support of the Native Americans who had taught them essential agricultural techniques. It's astonishing how, right after a day dedicated to gratitude for what you have, we transition into the capitalist frenzy known as Black Friday. “Give them bread and circuses and they will never revolt” - Juvenal (Ancient Rome)

Few weeks ago, I embarked on a journey by launching a weekly newsletter through Substack. What spurred me to kickstart this newsletter was the concept of "working in public." This newsletter serves as a means for me to hold myself accountable. With the first two editions published, I have received some incredibly valuable feedback. However, in alignment with the cyberpunk ethos, "information longs to be free," I now realize that it was unwise to confine it behind the walls of an "enter an email address" barrier. Consequently, I've chosen to share the same content, my Nostr long-form NIPs, and set this information free. Nevertheless, Substack does provide a convenient platform for you to receive each week's newsletter directly in your inbox. If you find that appealing, please feel free to subscribe here:

Today is a day we should always remember for people who could change the world killed by the US justice system. Happy birthday Aaron . . . Aaron Swartz was a brilliant programmer, writer, and activist known for his contributions to the development of web technologies and his advocacy for open access to information. He co-authored the RSS 1.0 specification at the age of 14 and later became involved in various internet-related projects. Swartz was a co-founder of Reddit and played a key role in the development of the Creative Commons. Unfortunately, Aaron Swartz's life was cut short when he tragically passed away in 2013 at the age of 26. His death was a significant loss to the tech and internet community, and he is remembered for his commitment to making information freely available to the public. image

Found a poem I wrote in 2021 Still fighting the same battle The mind is weak the ego is weak They keep me from reaching my peak. Time to let go, Time to do more And lift myself up whenever I feel low There are 2 voices in my head They confuse me with all the choices And keep me from going to bed. The time has come, to be strong Undo all the wrong And relax and maybe write a song Oh why has this taken me so long To stop wondering like Alice in Wonderland, To understand To give myself a helping hand Yet, oftentimes I feel like its time to give up But the fighter in me always shows up To fight another day Amidst all the dismay The EGO I must slay I guess this is the only way.
