That last #amethyst update broke my feed.
It's been a couple of hours, and I have no notes from less than 9 hours ago. Even the notes telling me a new Amethyst version was available are gone.
I used to scream into the void. Now, I'm in the void.

I listened to Arsenal's Dirty Secret from @Peter McCormack yesterday, with Anaïse & Carine Kanimba.
I didn't know much about that genocide. But it was bloody, and based on profoundly moronic anthropometry...
Like "if you happen to be maybe tall, slender, with a slender nose, you will be Tutsi. And if you are shorter, maybe with a flatter nose, then you are Hutu."
Crazy to see how easy it's to manipulate people!
Anyway, today, I saw:

So, Bayern fans > Arsenal fans.
Listen to the episode here: https://fountain.fm/show/LnQlDKTvuF5JwGBaVGv7I enjoyed that podcast, and the refreshing take away from doomerism.
I try not to be a doomer, but am more expecting a dollar collapse (or fiat collapse) than not... But looks like it's not guaranteed, and Bitcoin should still do well 👍

Absolutely no pushback from Lex in this episode.
Nothing about:

- censorship
- shadowbanning
- risks of centralization
He's an Alphabet fanboy, using superlatives all the time: incredible, amazing, exciting, cool...
Honestly, this episode feels like a PR stunt. And it should be marked as sponsored.

Bitcoiners are disagreeable people.
I just got blocked on HODL HODL because I replied to my peer the way he talked to me 🤣
First block!
My favorite quote in The Sandman of Neil Gaiman is from Hob Gadling, a mortal who became immortal after meeting Dream:
"I've never seen someone lead a perfect life.
The best any of us can do is enjoy what little time we have. And try not to ruin it for anyone else.
And whatever mistakes you've made, or you think you've made... Maybe it's not too late to fix them."

International banking sucks.
So much so that I decided to use @Hodl Hodl to convert from THB to BTC to EUR, instead of just making a transfer
Unfortunately, the experience wasn't great today. I easily converted THB to BTC, using the same seller as usual.
But after, I had to cancel 2 trades:
- First one because the buyer pretended to have sent the money, and tried to send me to a third party platform, to "accept" the funds...
- Second one because the seller wouldn't honor their own rate from HodlHodl, trying to haggle a better deal for themselves...
I guess I should have been more careful picking up an offer. I mostly looked at the price. But their success rate was not in the 90s. And they'd made very few trades.
I'm still learning.
But I wasted so much time on this. And I haven't managed to convert from BTC to EUR, yet. Plus, the price of Bitcoin is falling down, so I may lose on that, too, and not even get the amount I planned for in the first place.
On to the next.

Hey, second report that I can't read on #amethyst - I think there's an issue with links. Maybe the anchors are replaced by the link preview. Not sure if the post or the client is at fault, but that's not readable.
Yesterday, I finished reading Hidden Repression by @gladstein
The foreword by @Jeff Booth hit me hard! My 2 favorite quotes:
"[W]e've created a world that requires people to literally gamble on where to place their money to avoid it losing its purchasing power, and then we wonder why our world looks the way it does."
"The rule of law doesn't protect citizens from the manipulation of money."
Then, Alex's text was easy to read. But it was quite short (or it felt like it, as I read it quickly).
The content mostly enraged me, and I couldn't sleep afterward.
I'm still reeling from the experience.
What's most astonishing to me is that the IMF and WB are getting away with such a shocking and disturbing behavior, under the guise of benevolence or security. It's all just a facade for neocolonial exploitation.
And most people in the West are completely oblivious to it. Why aren't more people talking about this? Why aren't we demanding change?
The final chapter felt slightly off to me. I understand the intention was likely to conclude on a hopeful note, and to introduce Bitcoin as the peaceful solution. But it felt somewhat disconnected from the previous chapters. And it makes me hesitant to share the book with skeptical friends and family. They'll probably dismiss the book's important messages because of it.
But all in all, great book, and highly recommended.

I just learned about the use of FGC-9 in Myanmar, and how people built this 3D-printed gun with no regulated firearm parts to protect themselves 🤯
Fun fact: The gun's name is an initialism for "Fuck Gun Control", with the "9" referencing its 9mm cartridge.
