When history is written by the victor, and the victor was a bad guy, then most definitely many such cases! View quoted note →

When I hear stories like “this guy invented a free or almost free energy device” and then his patent was bought or his designs were stolen and buried by evil corporations or he got killed… I think they’re just psyops. In times of Nikola Tesla totally possible. But today when there’s the internet, cameras everywhere, etc… Unlikely. View quoted note →

Man, Tailscale is awesome. No more SSH, OpenVPN or Tor bullshit. 5 seconds and you’re connected.

I’m planning to launch my app fully centralized but will use it as a playground to integrate some cool features. Most users won’t even appreciate them because we’re talking about mass market here.

Ok, so I fucked around and found out: you can run Bitcoin Core + Specter on your server, create a watch-only wallet by importing your xpub and use that to derive new addresses as needed. I think there’s a much simpler setup (xpub-tool, for example) but I couldn’t make derive the same addresses as my Nunchuk wallet. Tinkered with derivation paths to no avail. View quoted note →

Say, I have a @nunchuk_io wallet. And I want to run a watch-only version of it on my server to generate HD addresses for incoming payments or to assign to users. How would I go about this in the simplest manner possible? #AskNostr

People shit on Electrum but it’s the only wallet I can run on a server as a daemon + have a GUI version on my laptop and on a phone. And one of them can be watch-only. Besides API-based centralized solutions, there aren’t many self-hosted options for businesses. There’s Cyphernode but I’m afraid to touch it because I’m not so experienced.

Weird how few wallets allow you to view your xpub these days.

The biggest hurdle of working with a Pakistani dev may not even be his skills but communication and mutual understanding. Let’s see.

My current options as I see them are: 1. Tron USDT: the most used but 🤮. It’s also expensive, so not sure why people use it. The power of shitcoin marketing, I guess. 2. USDT on Liquid: easier to integrate and justify. It’s basically Bitcoin code. BUT: literally nobody uses it. 3. Stay bitcoin-only. 4. Start as bitcoin-only. Wait for USDT on BTC/LN via Taproot Assets to take off (I think it will) and integrate it then. What do you think, anon? View quoted note →

I wanted to integrate a USDT balance alongside BTC in my app. I started learning a bit about Tron and instantly felt like I was touching shit with my hands. The rationale behind wanting to integrate USDT on Tron is simple: it’s the most liquid and used way more than BTC for payments in my chosen market (I assume in most markets the picture is similar). But man I don’t want to touch shitcoins.
