The urgency to adopt Nostr is relaxed compared to Bitcoin. Nostr is earlier on its path and Bitcoin is an end in itself, while Nostr is a means to that end. However, if you are trying to build an audience for yourself or a business, the opportunity is massive. Being a first mover has always been an advantage on new social platforms. If you were early to Instagram, you had fewer photographers to compete with than you do now. Being early to TikTok and making a single viral video changed people's lives. But, for every successful new platform, there were many failures. If you built a following on Myspace or Vine, you better have connected with your followers somewhere else. If you didn't, all you were left with when those platforms died, was some good, old-fashioned character building. The beauty of Nostr is that every kind of social media will eventually come there. Like iterations, most will fail, but this time you don't lose your connections when they do. The barrier and risk to trying new things is minimal. Building a following on Nostr is the only way to have an owned social audience. It is the only audience that is completely portable. You don't need to fight for the same handle across apps. You don't need to convince people to follow you in ten different places. At scale, your Nostr followers follow you once and enjoy your content in whatever format they prefer. Being early on Nostr is being early to every future app built on the protocol. Instead of getting a head start on one platform, you're getting a head start on all of them. The opportunity is enormous. image

Email has been a businesses' only true owned internet channel. It worked for a long time, but now everyone has an inbox that looks like a landfill. You have to be exceptional to get opened consistently. Then you hit the bigger problem. How do you even build an email list without relying on another platform you do not control? You need ads or a big social account just to get people onto the list you supposedly own. Nostr changes that dynamic. image Nostr feels like social media and email had a kid. It is the best of both worlds. You get the reach and scalability of a social network and the permanence and ownership of an email list. No one can ban you and you do not have to sacrifice anything for that except being early...for now. For the first time, you can build an audience that grows like a social feed and belongs to you like an inbox. A real owned channel that can scale on its own. For the first time, you can have your cake and eat it too.

For businesses, Nostr is the combo between social media and email. Zapvertizing is the humane equivalent to direct mail

Sometimes you run into a guy who says, "I'm gonna rub the World's best pizza on this jungle's nuts". And then he does it. And he prefers Bitcoin. New episode with the founder of Seba's drops tonight.

"You betrayed yourself for nothing" - One impetus for creating Soak was the excitement around finding people that disagree with us. An assumption we got wrong 5-10 years ago was believing the majority of the population would be solution-oriented instead of aggressively defending their need to look right. We got that wrong because that's how we think and we assume everyone thinks that way. The result of getting this assumption wrong and not realizing it earlier is that the World is bereft of examples of what good faith debates look like. The result is we were not working on the right solution earlier. We wasted time and therefore made it more difficult to produce the solution with the TIME debt from false assumptions. Not challenging your own assumptions on the things you're very sure about is a slippery slope. Avoiding this is highly correlated with prioritizing egos and work over truth and TIME. Once this slope starts and the heels dig in to defend the ego, the slippery slope of moral self betrayal begets more desperate. Fear is why we would betray our moral compass for nothing. Fear of being wrong. That's it. Just fear. When we operate from ego exposure fear, we are missing out on what makes life fun and interesting. We miss out on engagement with people who are not motivated by the need to be right. We assume that everyone feels the way we do about being right and devolve our discourse to the only methods available to defend egos and false assumptions. People who enjoy good faith debates, have done the work on their own assumptions, are solution oriented and have high agency find it a waste of TIME to rub noses. We do not see examples of this anywhere so we assume it's impossible for people to exist that do not care about rubbing noses. Why would you want to rub noses if you have a new ally on a difficult but purposeful path? If you have a new ally in truth, it's just too fun to work on the solution together. It's just too enjoyable to experience life with a new teammate in truth that you knew was worth fighting for. Or disagree in good faith with someone because you both did the verifiable work on assumptions. It also feels great to have a respected adversary to continually keep you sharp. Cultures that excel in business are comprised of people too excited to create something that has never existed before. Needing to be right is not smart and it wastes everyone else's TIME. It's a dead giveaway of dead weight that needs to be cut immediately. We have some guests in the queue that disagree with our position on the importance of the circular economy and medium of exchange because we value our TIME and are too excited at our mission. They are either going to save us a ton of TIME, become an ally or sharpen our effectiveness at fighting for our mission. We want our most important assumptions to be challenged. We want jousting partners on Soak as much as we want to have fun with our team and allies on the same mission. How can you expect to ever be considered to care deeply about a problem if you're not looking for weaknesses in your assumptions to improve or see that they're disproved? How can you say you value TIME and PURPOSE and ENERGY if you are afraid to be proven wrong? If you do not seek out challenging enough debates because you're afraid of being wrong, your life will be spent in betrayal of your own self for nothing. Is that how you want to spend your TIME? We don't. GM & GFY
