Zap.Stream was a low priority, but this event has been zapped over 175k Sats so far. I hope this shows it should be high priority. Thanks again to @π•Ύπ–Šπ–— π•Ύπ–‘π–Šπ–Šπ–•π–ž, @DeAllen Young, and @TheGrinder for the help to push the priority!

We stream on Rumble, YouTube and X. We have the capability to do zap.stream but it’s a lower priority at the moment. If enough people want it, they can zap to top up our wallet and we’ll give it a go.

Speaking for @PUBKEY here, the reason is that we don’t want to deliver a subpar experience for Nostr. Doing livestreams is a commitment of resources for a very small team. Incorporating zap.stream into our process is more involved than just adding a stream key to our Restream account like we do with Rumble and YouTube. Nostr is highly interactive and requires attention on the chat and the zap goals, etc. while not neglecting other aspects and details of the stage event and the audience. We want to get it right.
I’m hoping the tools get easier. We use Restream because it’s still the fastest and most efficient way to set up a livestream with multiple destinations. FWIW, and like it or not, PubKey’s streams on Twitter get over 1000 views, far more than any other outlet. When running a business, metrics matter. I have personally been advocating for Nostr since day one, and I put together our first zap.stream back in May with Nostr Village. Unfortunately, and for reasons I still don’t fully understand, the stream got completely messed up and the replay was unusable. I felt burned by this experience and it’s one of the reasons that we had to back-burner it until we found a way to streamline the entire process. There are still aspects of it that I find frustrating but I am willing to put up with it because I want to make it work. Hope that helps. I truly appreciate all the support and encouragement. How many other bitcoin-only brands and media companies give Nostr the degree of attention that we do?
You don't even need restrram.io. restreaming FROM zapstream is free to as many platforms as you like. Plus there is an app out there that combines stream chats and it already supports zapstream But yes, streaming (especially restreaming) comes with a lot of 3rd party dependencies.
Maybe, but streaming from zap.stream creates some risks that we can’t afford to take at the moment, the most obvious one being that it requires access to your account’s nostr key and lightning wallet, which is okay if it’s just one person running it but there are times when there will be additional team members or contract employees involved and until that gets solved it makes more sense to go with the industry standard. @TFTC also uses Restream, for example.
Chicken and egg problem! As a business, you have to focus on where the growth is. It’s different than running a personal account where it’s more about making a statement. Transitional periods are hard. Tell me you don’t still have a bank account or still use fiat day to day.
