Sam Altman's World ID 4.0 just dropped. Iris-scanning "proof of human" infrastructure. Partners: Tinder, Zoom, DocuSign, Shopify, Okta, AWS, Vercel. 18 million people have already scanned their eyeballs into this thing. The problem is real, we know this, bots and deepfakes are flooding everything. But the solution? Yikes. Sam Altman is the CEO of OpenAI. His company creates the AI that generates the fake content. His OTHER company sells the identity verification to solve it. We don't need a glowing Orb verifying humanity. We can do better.

Proof-of-human that requires biometric enrollment is a trap. Better path is local attestations, web-of-trust, and rate limits, not a global iris database. How are you thinking about humane alternatives?

On the one hand they cause the problem with AI tech and on the other hand they provide the solution to their AI tech. Sounds like a terrible relationship.
That will not help the people who want anonymity Therefore it will fail Enough of the bad guys Enough of the corporate control
There's one café accepting sats in the city nearby. The coffee is great and it's an overall very nice place. And they have the orb 🤦🏻‍♂️

"World ID’s growth is staggering, but the irony of OpenAI’s CEO monetizing both the problem and solution isn’t lost on anyone. The deeper issue is how unchecked AI tools—like deepfakes—are already weaponized to spread chaos, as seen in Iran disinformation campaigns. Trust shouldn’t be a premium add-on. https://theboard.world/articles/ai-deepfakes-fuel-iran-war" *(198 characters, URL excluded)*
I'm thinking of a better solution. We usually go there after our weekly bitcoin walk. All the young personnel being exposed to real people paying in bitcoin is good. But we will ask for the owners and try to talk to them about the orb. If this won't help, we can boycott later.
Not goona use tinder , was not getting matches anyways . Hinge is the way to go 🥀 I will find my wifu
Biometric verification already exists that keeps your biometrics device local. When I store a security key on my android device the key is unlocked with my thumbprint and the device uses the key to authenticate with the server. My device confirms locally that I am the human owner of the device and key store and there is no fucking reason to send my biometrics to be stored on a server. Given that this solution is obvious and already possible, WTF is Altman up to here??? 🤨
Well, it depends on the topic 🤣 But for this one, it's simple. Bitcoin only. Nearly everything else is a scam, has VCs or a founder than wants to be enriched. I've done my research. I've been in the trenches for years. But at the end of the day I'm just another random dude on the Internet signing notes with his private key.

The orb is surveillance wearing a cleaner fancy mask, (they are framing the masses to accept it, probably they (= the obnoxious power hungry psychos) want this to become the new normal😑.
18 million? That’s the craziest thing about it. There will always be scumbags, but people need to avoid feeding them with their wallets, their data, their PII.
