When I was working in the PNW a lot of the fire department executives were adamantly against promoting EVs. They had to dedicate an abandoned lot on city limits to EVs that had gotten in a crash or just got old enough for the battery to explode. These lots had to be staffed 24/7 because the EVs would reignite themselves randomly.
