It's funny how many of these kinds of people there are, hence the meme, but they are almost always surpassed in terms of what they can produce by somebody who has almost nothing. For example, somebody that buys the hottest guitar and amplifier with all of the pedals and bells and whistles yada yada, and some child who makes their own guitar out of whatever they find down by the scrapyard not only is a better player than they are, but often end up creating new genres of music. It's nice to have nice equipment, but it is by no means the most important thing, and often at times, it's the least important.
Yeah, that's exactly it! It's like doing salt bae thing on a turd that you pulled out of the toilet. That's not to say that anybody with nice stuff is by definition is bad or of poor quality, obviously that doesn't check out, but they normally learn to walk before they can run and develop a sense of modesty. I recall a traditional music session here in Ireland, and an young fellow showed up who was very arrogant, and when asked if he would like to play a song, he played a song but spent the next 10 minutes talking about himself and thanking everyone as if he was accepting an Oscar or something, refusing to pass the instrument along until somebody shouted 'you're not good enough to be that humble!'. He didn't hang around long after that!

Just because it's your hobby it doesn't mean you have to be bad at it. Only those who consider themselves professionals refuse to learn as they go. The rest of us are here to help each other out ♥️

Yes, but not really... You call "them" out as hobbyists and exclude yourself, but I was under the impression that you took an interest in the technology, or at least the music?
