I have a friend who might be gearing up for a legal battle about her choice to raise a few hens despite technical legal restrictions due to asinine and archaic zoning laws 🤬
These could be some of the most expensive eggs imaginable but I really respect the courage to fight for their family’s right to provide their own ethical food.

Truthfully, I'm against ridiculous ordinances and I also think that people should be allowed to be somewhat self-sufficient... but if you're in a suburban environment even within a rural town, then I don't think it's necessary to raise chickens within that area. They are reasonably dirty and loud.
I live in a rural small town and within the suburban area of my town, you're not allowed to raise chickens and frankly, I'm okay with that. Because if I really cared that much I'd find a property on the outskirts of the town where it is still allowed, or better yet, just buy from one of the local farmers and support a small business in your area instead of feeling the need to ruin the peace and quiet within an area of the town that is meant to be peaceful and quiet.
That's just my two cents, offered respectfully. I don't expect anybody to change their opinion based upon what I said.
