Got my sci fi manuscript back from the editor, meaning it's ready for me to look through all the proposed edits and do another draft. But I have so much email to catch up on and so much macro content to get to. So all day I'll be distracted. -_-' image

Serious question Lyn. Have you personally done the work on WHEN the existing cost curves of Solar, Wind and Batteries MIGHT converge to provide local system (not grid scale) energy density that would rival existing fossil fuel systems? I have an intuition that this will be required for humanity to move to the next stage of civilization organisation. Interconnected independent local systems instead of large scale centralised ones. Thx 🙏🏻
I think we'd need to reach like, self-replicating solar satellite bots for that. Until then, energy dense sources win. In the meantime, I also think OTEC is among the best ways to capture solar energy in the long run for equatorial coastal communities, who can also export it. It lets the solar energy concentrate in the ocean and then captures it. There's a bunch of bitcoiners working on that.

Do you have any back of the envelope work product to show this is still (definitively) a long way off? The reason I ask is that I’m close with a well meaning independent think tank of systems engineers that believe we are within 5 years of the cost curves of solar, wind and batteries not only being competitive but surpassing fossil fuel energy density. At the local level, even. I’m skeptical, but I don’t have the detailed understanding of the cost curves and physics that would validate or disprove their claims…. And I’m too lazy to spend the time recreating it all from scratch. Was hoping you were my shortcut 😝
