Releasing ChatGPT 4o for free is a smart move for them. They get all the text, audio, media, digital and video data for free. Not to mention context and a ton of metadata to go with it - and practically the largest dataset on humanity. This is a nightmare scenario for privacy and gives the company way too much power. It’s not clear to me how the open source models are going to catch up with a superior UX that sucks up all the data.
