These are so cool! Definitely not without flaws, but those were mostly self-induced. I thought I had a high power spray bottle for washing off the backs to expose the blue gravel, but I couldn't find it. I should have looked for it before I started, but I didn't. By the time I gave up looking, the cement was too set to wash away. That didn't stop me from trying, though. I took the little tray outside in the dark and tried to spray them off with my garden hose. That wasn't working, so I threw the hose to the side, and it landed at a wonky angle, spraying me in the face. I panicked and drop the tray. Now I have 1 broken domino :( Aside from that, these are awesome. The faces are shiny and defined. The fish tank gravel will work, i just need to be a little more prepared and a little less impulsive๐Ÿซ  I still need to clean up the edges with a file, glue the broken one, and seal them. I might tape over & paint the dots, too. I'm unsure. This set will either be my own or driveway filler, so every experiment is okay. Minimalism is usually boring but it kinda works here. I'll be trying another set later today. The question remains: what kind of storage container suits concrete dominos? image

Cool project. Have you considered experimenting with fibrous concrete for improved tensile strength and breakage resistance? Iโ€™m impressed how uniformly they turned out.

Thanks. I was going to add plasticizer but I couldn't find any in stock locally. I hadn't considered fibercrete. I might try that after I work through this box of mix. I wonder if it would still be this shiny?

Iโ€™m not sure about how the finish would vary. Iโ€™m also wondering about kiln-glazed ceramic clay as an option. Either way, cool project!

I'd love that, but it's a bit cost prohibitive. Somebody should take the time to revolutionize hemp processing methods for better quality fibers at a cheaper prices. ๐Ÿค”

This is how the backs were _supposed_ to look. Current batch is going to be awesome ๐Ÿ˜ image

I didn't know, maybe they do. Bugs are low on the threat list, where I live.. I didn't know this reference either. I had to search it. ๐Ÿ˜…

It can be suprising what nature can consume like those mealworms that eat styrofoam and rock eating microbes and lichen likely eats concrete but it still made me laugh ๐Ÿ˜. Guess there is no Godzilla threat near you either.๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm seriously considering a handmade 2 player game side hustle. This is fun.

Well, I've tried & I've learned that the weight of the vicous cement is heavier than the nothing that I had inside the inner mold. This should have been foreseeable, but of course, I didn't think about that. I'll approach this again after I make some wooden boxes for the sets that I've made so far, which is getting out of hand. Now I want to dye a set of dominos a darker shade & put them in the cement grey box. This will be cool, but it might take me longer than I had anticipated. ๐Ÿ˜…
