I'm very much not a baker, I hate having to follow a recipe. And for being able to yarn things, I suck at decorating cakes/cupcakes. That said we baked vanilla cakes from a recipe not a box, made the compote which I'm sort of an expert at now 🤣, and made a lemon american style buttercream frosting which I want to swim around in all day 🤤🫄. The slightly wonky cake is layered with the compote and frosting, has a crumb coat (sort of), and is living in the fridge tonight. It will become a Pikachu face tomorrow. #bakestr #ionlyhadateenymeltdown

You can just cook fruit down... Peach and strawberry "compost" for Jr's cake he's decorating for desserts class. Frozen fruit, sweetener, acid (citrus juice), and heat makes a tasty spread. #foodstr #youcanjustcookthings image

I feel you! I bake a lot, but most of it isn’t cake. I just don’t know what to do with decorating—so all I do is cover the cake with frosting in whatever ways 😂
Yes. This 😂. Bread is easy! We have yellow frosting, black frosting, and leftover compote for decorating. My fear is the frosting is going to melt off before I can snap a decent pic. Who knows how it'll turn out looking, it's going to taste fantastic 🫄🫄.
Baking does really require measuring, unfortunately. Now, cooking...you can really just mess around and have fun. Can't wait to see the Pikachu cake
Yes! I'm a recipes are sort of a go by...that doesn't work with baking I hear, lol. It was very unique and will be online elsewhere, so I probably won't put a pic up here for Jr's privacy's sake. But it turned out very cute...and YELLOW (it needed all caps 😂). But the buttercream was dripping off by the time we got around to eating it. It was in the upper 70s and we were outside 🫠. Tasted amazing though.
