The Nostr Giffer has been built. It doesn’t have a name yet, but it does what it needs to do.
It follows the draft NIP-XX (we’ll assign a number when it makes sense). Honestly, I have no idea how any of this works—I’m just vibing it.
The app is simple—think keyword replacement on your phone.
You create a GIF profile by providing two things: a name (for example, thisisfine) and a link to the GIF. Done.
Your GIF is now “born.” It’s yours, and it will have a profile name like &thisisfine. In the spec, I added the idea of cloning GIFs. This is important because we can’t have collisions, like someone spamming a word with inappropriate GIFs.
Feel free to try it out. Right now, it doesn’t do anything beyond this. Next step: convince a client to add a lookup using the “&” sign, just like we already do with the “@” sign.
This whole thing, start to finish, was vibed with
@Soapbox MKStacks. Now I just need a way to host it.
