Teach your son to master his impulses, desires, frustration, pride, and anger because his future depends on his ability to control what tries to control him.

Maybe the real advice would be to teach yourself such things before you presume to instruct others. Children learn by imitation.
A boy who’s taught to master his anger learns to hide it. Then he has to find something to medicate it. Teach your son that his anger isn’t good or bad, it’s just fuel, and that you can sit with him in it. That’s what he’ll be able to do with his own son.
surrender the idea that you have to figure everything out. surrender the instinct to control rather than listen. surrender pride and ego to integrity. surrender the fragile autonomy that keeps you isolated in your struggles. surrender the story that your worth is measured by how much you can control (yourself or the world), instead of who you are and how you love.
