It's important to realize that ecash solutions will not only be "general use wallets" that can pay for anything, send money to friends, or buy a coffee. Ecash systems will also be closed systems for media subscriptions, content monetization, VPN credits, paywalls, and ads. Not as money, but as credit tokens. The web is huge.

That literally depends on whether Bitcoin will win. Ecash is best on Bitcoin but in the end it's just an accounting method for already existing assets. Ecash should also exist for fiat but fiat is full of gatekeepers.

Yes, I know an example of a company and product where the question was "should we use a privacy shitcoin or Cashu" and they decided it's going to be Cashu.

Interesting. One UX hurdle is the lightning fee incurred when joining and leaving mints. If my sats are spread over too many corporate mints, i am held captive. Atomic swaps with no-fees should be possible between mint operators if they operate on a bitcoin standard
