Castopod for selfhosting music/podcasts, whilst it's on ActivityPub, not Nostr it supports podcasting 2.0 and funny internet money.
Thanks πŸŽΆπŸ‘ esp. Fir Tyrese two: v4vmusic.com looks pretty cool (hope they add LN to their Donate tab too). Stablekraft- pretty interesting, just read the GitHub for now.
Woooooha πŸ€©πŸ‘ awesome! Thanks and congrats to The Doerfels
Thanks πŸ‘ pretty cool, though the page looks like it’s focusing more on pods than on music.
True, however Podcasting2.0 is geared up for both. Haven't quite got my head round using a Nostr natvie version yet although I know they exist. I've a new EP to drop next month so could well text some options then, I need to have a read up on Music Side Project.
Sure, and I didn't mean anything bad by my comment, just for an average user it may be a bit confusing when they see the whole start page just talking about podcasts (simply they wouldn't expect to find music in there). A bit of context maybe, I'm planning to bring more newbies (mostly music fans) to the space ; so looking for clean tools, even "predicable" in a way. But once again, thanks πŸ‘ a new tool overall, not bad, indeed
Sure thing/agree. A bit of context: I'm looking for "simple" music related tools to onboard newbies, music fans. Nostria is amazing, love it from day one, but for this particular research I need something more straightforward (players, streaming platforms)
As I just shared a video, it can be turned into a pure Music app, just as it can be a pure Clips ("Vine") app. If you do the same I just did with Clips, it actually morphs the UI a lot more to become similar to Vine/TikTok. I have since the beginning of making Nostria had the idea of "modes", because I plan on adding some great community features and when in this mode, it would change the main menu structure to be more like Discord/Slack, etc. Could maybe add this "modes" selection to make onboarding easier for new people, because there is a lot of features already. I try my best to not "enable" (show) everything by default, but that needs to improve. Features should be revealed more as users learn more.
Yeah its funny, I only started using it once I realised folks were essentially just releasing over RSS. For about a year I was trying to do the same with PerrTube but just didn't work, despite it meant to being PC2.0 compatible.
Decentralized music tips here, because all demu is v4vmusic, but not all v4vmusic is demu, and musicians should def self-custody their art. If anyone wants to decentralize their music in the most sovereign way possible, this RSS feed template with tag comments is here to copy, paste, and host on your own website: There's also a tool @ChadF and 33 others is working on that's been used by many to semi-DIY it, Music Side Project: which is an updated version incorporating Nostr into
Also, are you looking for music shows to help people "discover" the world of demu/v4vmusic? LNBeats has a Music Shows page but many are no longer around. HomegrownHits.xyz Before the Sch3m3s: And my apologies if there is someone I missed, I just suck at listing lol
Whooooha 🀩 That's amazing βš‘πŸ§‘πŸŽΆπŸ‘ thank YOU. Learning new things, definitely but I should have probably specify my note and asay from the beginning that I'm actually looking for "simple" tools that an average user of Apple/Spotify/Amazon/YouTube could get attracted to. Recently I've talked to a few people who felt in love with some tracks available in the v4v music ecosystem (not yet demu, however) and got really surprised that platforms like Fountain exists with such a variety of choice, no ads, etc. Hence I wanted to build a handfu/solidl list of different alternatives. Your suggestions are very cool, once again thanks, and maybe one day I'm gonna use it to "enlighten" some creators too (everything is happening for a reason πŸ™ƒ)
Very useful thanks πŸŽΆπŸ‘ in fact some of my personal favourites
Thanks. I'm actually not cooking anything much different than the description of this profile 😎 "Website. Magazine. Playlists. Podcast – Multilayered hub for unchained music. Curation. Exposure. Support – We’re not another platform but a node for artists and fans. #V4VMusic" πŸ“ Of course it feels richer in practice than words, and a few people who saw it, liked the results. I'm not trying to hide anything just simply still testing some stuff with the website and waiting for the 1st print of the magazine (delivery on the way). Next steps to follow... For this specific exercise (asking about tools) I want to build a straightforward list of alternatives to Apple/Amazon/Spotify/YouTube etc. Last week I spoke to a handful of people who really loved some tracks from the v4v music ecosystem and were surprised to discover the existence of Fountain for example but still (sadly) fund the concept of Nostr itself a bit overwhelming (focused solely on the music experience), so... in order to provide a wider choice (not to promote one platform and considering everyone may like different things) I'm a simply planning to build a handful, simple but solid, list of tools/alternatives - shared online and offline too for those who may be interested in.
cool cool! You mentioned helping newbies find their way, i suppose that is specifically what interests me! But i'm cheering for you regardless! I've been running a tangential project for a few years now (fuck... 16 haha!): @Basspistol HQ Take a look at there's a label Sweden that rents out account to their catalogue on v4v basis in terms of pricing. The cool thing about Navidrome is that most clients for opensubsonic API support multiple media providers.

I'll check into that. When you add a new item to the feed it should use the Value Block for the album.

I YOLO'd a fix for this. It wasn't be added at that spot so hopefully this fixes it. Thanks for the feedback.
Absolutely INCREDIBLE 🧑πŸ’₯πŸŽΆπŸ‘ thanks, didn't know, will definitely play with it through one of my accounts. Yet... And please no offence, I really believe that what's you are building is priceless, but I'm simply looking for alternatives to Apple/Spotify/Amazon/YouTube, which a completely new person interested in music can consider to use instead of their current stuff. So far, many of such people find Nostr in general a bit overwhelming, I mean those who really care solely about the music experience. I'll still keep in mind the richness of Nostria and show it to people when possible (preferably in person) but the main task for now is to build a handful list of "simple"/straightforward tools, alternatives to the most popular platforms, players etc.
We need people just building music app right now and then we can polish it. The nice thing is that the data is out there to build with. I built itdv.podtards.com for @The Doerfels so people can go there and just hit play on their music. The @Wavlake app is actually quite nice tbh but only shows wavlake hosted content so its library is limited.
Ah yeah, we like to stay hard around these parts! πŸ˜‚ Pretty sure all the new value-enabled music players have been mentioned to ya like V4VMusic, LNBeats, and Stablekraft. But any newpodcastapp.com will work for supporting music, and Podverse is great when it comes to watching live shows. Things have moved fast in the five years since demu was born (shoutout to the Able and the Wolf album Stay Awhile and their podcast documenting the journey, Ablekraft), so I feel like this year there's gonna be huge UI improvements (and probably new apps) for listeners and musicians alike coming soon.
Since we're on the topic of Nostr music, what happened with the NOM: Nostr Open Media Specification? I thought Wavlake was using that, appears not? I implemented support for kind 32123 (I'm removing it again), though I can only find 9 valid events with that kind on most relays, including the Wavlake relay (there are none of that event kind on Wavlake) Looking at the repos in development at Wavlake, I can see these events used: 30440 β€” track metadata 30441 β€” album metadata 30442 β€” artist profile 30443 β€” music playlist Wavlake is doing their own NIP for music, for the new platform/app: From what I can see in the mobile app repository (not updated anymore), it used kind 32123. Yet I can only find like 9 songs with that older kind. That can't be correct? Is Wavlake using Nostr in the existing app, or is it using a centralized database? I could only find this amount of events for these kinds: 30440: 56 events 30441: 13 events 30442: 2 events 30443: 4 events For 36784 there is at least 355 events already. From my analysis, I believe maybe current Wavlake is a centralized database and not really using Nostr events for music metadata? I can see @Joshr is very actively developing on it, though he has not been on Nostr in a few months. Maybe you could join in and share some comments? I see the NIPs you've written is not all that different from 36784 and 34139. Would you consider supporting those kinds for tracks and albums, and keep the others? It would be great for the larger community that we are as compatible as possible.
Thanks! You can always DM for LN details or use my profile. Glad to help!
