High time preference thinking. First of all, is president really the only place he can continue to help the people? Second of all. He is mortal. Any power centralized will one day pass to someone else. Do you really think it is wise to give that power to everyone in the future forever? Also that is ignoring the human rights issues with how he has treated his own citizens so far.
I have no rebuttals because i agree and believe ES is going to regret this long term. They found a way to rebrand dictator.
I think I heard about something a while ago too. What's got me wondering is, what's wrong with the Latin American countries, that they keep falling for this? Like... All of them. I like to think that if that happened in the US, a bunch of dudes would grab some equipment and go solve the problem. Are average people there unarmed? Do they just not understand the concept of separation of powers? Is it a catholic thing? Does the CIA somehow force all these "el presidente's" to push the paperwork to become a dictator?
I think it has to do with the WEF economic hitmen. The people wouldn't really vote for giving the profit of all their labor to American corporations. So the WEF does their carrot stick deal with loans vs CIA coup offered to the president.
