We expected this to launch this yesterday but it has been rejected 3 times for absolutely no reason 🤦‍♂️ I don’t know how you can do development on this platform without absolutely dispising the company after a few attempts to deploy your code. happy that we are free from apple so we can start innovating with freedom tech again. can’t build new freedom tech in a jailed ecosystem that doesn’t want its users to be free, so that they can treat you like cattle to milk that 30% tax on all your in app transactions. Not the mention all of the horrific transaction privacy issues that arises from this. sad what this company has become. View quoted note →

Unfortunately, you‘re perfectly right. Probably like the Titanic… Quite the challenge to build a competitive platform which is at least as convenient.
AppStore controls are one of the biggest restrictions on free speech on the internet and somehow we don’t acknowledge it. The reason it’s such a big point of control is that competing with the duopoly is nearly impossible. It’s market capture.
If Damus was on Android you could just drop an apk link or put it in Zap Store 😉
me too. they had the world in their hands and lost it over petty greed. its a bummer. moving on...

Well when people mention that using Android is better everyone loses their minds and makes it into some weird thing
Is the rejection due to some perceived free speech issue? More often with apps that include things like zaps, it’s confusion around payment rules on one side or the other.

I still prefer an iphone. I just can’t use it to release the software I want to release which is sad and frustrating.
More recently, the only thing I'm hearing iPhone users say they don't like about android is that it doesn't have imessage or whatever it is called. I think Apple makes raw SMS/android messages a different color that users don't like. Marketing genius. They make the user feel like an inside crowd.

I like apples hardware and focus on privacy. Their app sandboxing is great and i feel comfortable putting my nsec in damus

They are going to come after the Nostr apps as soon as enough truth gets told. I guarantee it. They did the same to Gab. I hope anyone who is building Nostr clients is prioritizing web app versions.

from what I understand the OS verifies the developer signature but I don't know the exact mechanisms

yeah their reviews are less strict on testflight and new builds don't require new reviews, only major/minor versions.

What is this part referring to? You deployed damus web or something? > “happy that we are free from apple so we can start innovating with freedom tech again.”

they just need to change a few policies and there would be no issues

Can you still jailbreak latest iOS? Would that enable you to build/install custom apps without permission?
Especially at the price point they sell them for! I am a hater of all things apple :) my go-to statement is: they make beautiful hardware, but some of the worst software I have ever encountered. Also, the fact that the amount of blatant security vulnerabilities they have had with their walled garden approach and small hardware footprint is laughable. Okay.... End rant sorry 😄
Now imagine what happens when Google starts deprioritizing Android and Apple becomes the only active large player in place. On one side, this is bad, but it might open the window for a new second player like a foss mobile OS with sufficient backing.

How is it restricting? I haven't used one of the two mentioned app stores in 10 years. It's the public that is kept dumb and lazy that is the problem.
It's literally The Matrix. When you point out everyone is in a prison they can't see or smell, most don't even want to know, much less get out. Some will actually fight you.
