When future historians look back, will they say BTC saved the world economy, or just gave us the chance to save ourselves?

Hope they say we saved the world from total destruction.
Save ourselves.
The world economy continually mutates further from truth as it grows further reliant on cheap money and government spending. In other words, much of it is not worth saving.
Satoshi gave BTC as a gift to humanity. Humanity must now use that gift to save humanity.
Fix the money, fix the world.

It depends on who wins the culture wars. If BTC is captured or subverted and we end up in a tightly controlled digital dystopia where everyone is 'happy' then they will likely write that BTC was a violent mind virus that caused irreparable damage to social cohesion at that time. Memory holed as a silly ponzi.
If we win the culture then BTC is a discovery as potent as fire itself. It is seen as a human capability 'force multiplier' as #bitcoin needs humans and then robots to apply its network effects.

Perhaps both knowing that BTC was the first true money otherwise the other two items you listed wouldnt have happened. My thought at least.
On a long enough timescale perhaps both but only the latter for those alive today.
The world economy is made up of individuals. This individual is looking out for number one. So we answer the first part of the question by affirming the second.
