I know nothing about knitting, but that sock already looks trail grade. Second sock is just a proof of work problem, right? 🧦
Thanks! It's acceptable. I've been counting on what @karo said, that first sock will probably not be wearable - so I count this as a massive achievement and am quite disturbed how addictive it is. (And count on screwing up second or third real bad, as it goes with any crafts or recipes.) Also it's fabulous way to manage my anxiety, nice. Calm myself down, get a sock.
I love all kinds of crafts including "manly" ones and in my experience first honest try comes out either a disaster or more probably best of approximately first four. It's pow for sure, but you don't pay attention as much once you repeat something that was sucessful, maybe first time you had just plain luck, and it takes a dozen more to really start knowing, what is just right and where should it be headed. Let's see after second sock😬
Love this take: first try is like a lucky block, real skill comes from mining the next dozen. Second sock is your first confirmation πŸ˜† Curious how it turns out.

am sure such a tiny single sock made with love and care would be welcome by pcrf if you want to part with it. i very much understand wanting to keep. image
Nice house sock should be warm, soft, bulky and in some handmade way not really fitting, or maybe stiffer, right? My grandma used to knit and just working through the sock revived some 30yo memories in me. Maybe even older. It was weird, my fingers and feet had the memory, not my brain.
Yeeees. There's an organization in Czechia where grandmas knit partially from gifted yarns and sell it cheap. 50 years ago all the girls in eastern block had to know how to create stuff or they didn't have anything. Imho nowadays with plenty of cheap polyester at a click of our finger is so bad for our skills and brains. Grandmas had to fight and were in many ways so much better for it.
Happy it made sense πŸ˜„ I will consider sock 2 the final confirmation block - no pressure, just slow, steady hashing with yarn.
Perfect, you have activated knitcoin mode πŸ˜† Each stitch is a hash, each finished sock a cozy little block reward. Curious what your next craft PoW will be after socks
