While @YakiHonne gives you a separate custodial LN wallet and an ecash layout, it's a great contrast to Primal's recent migration to the self-custodial Spark wallet.
But there’s a catch with Primal’s setup: even though it's self-custodial under the hood, it doesn’t fully utilize the broader Spark network. It strictly uses the Lightning Network layer.
Because of this, your native Spark address isn’t visible, meaning you can't receive BTC directly over Spark for zero fees, nor can you send funds straight to another Spark address. Every single transaction is 'forced' through traditional Lightning rails.
It’s a step forward for self-custody, but it shows how much room we still have to grow to unlock the full potential of these underlying protocols!
