maybe sometimes, but i suspect many were never shown how to deal with the discomfort of being a black sheep. there is a kind of comfort in consensus. it feels like safety
That's why freedom is never popular. if you give it a good UX and it becomes mainstream, it stops being freedom.
It's not just comfortable. Consensus is enforced. Being the black sheep has cost me more than once, and physically too. Some people will not accept your standing apart.

few will ever know or experience that. even though they believe they want it. and besides.. that has nothing to do with most people being fearful to exit consensus.

I don't get it, how does being free make someone less popular? Con's someone just shut the fuck up about how free they are instead of rubbing it in everyone else's faces? I think a free person could be pretty popular if they just did that.
