I'll say shit, @ODELL. Saylor is not here for freedom maximalism, has attacked the idea of Bitcoin as a MoE, and, based on what you're saying, doesn't support Bitcoin development. End the hero worship. It's never a good look.

THIS IS NOT CONTROVERSIAL. IF PEOPLE STOPPED SIMPING AND ASKED SAYLOR HIS OPINION HE WOULD ENCOURAGE YOU TO NOT SUPPORT OPEN SOURCE DEVS. HE HAS ACTIVELY KILLED DEALS TO SUPPORT DEVS. HE IS PROUD OF IT. HE IS WRONG AND EVERYONE IS TO AFRAID TO SAY SHIT.

SOV and MOE are two sides of the same coin. We can't have Bitcoin property and only spend the USD shitcoin. They can't fork off and have two chains, bitcoin and "bitcoin property." It will end up like bcash. One will go up and one will not. We don't want a situation where we only spend forks of bitcoin. If we did, all forks end up being a newfangled fiat currency. Fiat is financial slavery.

Saylor should not be worshipped, but I genuinely think it's probably better for Saylor not to support any change to Bitcoin & to set an example for all the dumbass legacy finance people to not support any change to bitcoin. They don't mine, they don't run nodes, we are still capable of making changes that need to be made. But there isn't much else that should be done to Bitcoin anyway. CTV & CISA would be amazing, but Bitcoin will also probably be fine without them.
This is what I keep telling everybody. Stop worshipping Elon Musk, stop worshipping Michael Saylor. They are just people and people are fallible. Kill your heros. View quoted note →
