Yesterday my blind pet rabbit had to get her eyes removed due to ulcers + glaucoma. It’s been really painful to see as she has been such a big part of my videos for the last 7 years. But I am realizing the way we perceive this pain is very different. Mine is rooted in nostalgia; letting go of the past and the image I have of her. She is probably relieved to have two useless, painful eyes removed. That's one thing about mammals and most animals. They live in the present and adapt without all the foibles of human nature. If you accidentally destroy an ant hill, the ants simply start building another without regret or anger. That's why we love our pets so much. They're often everything we are not but would like to be. Keep pushing onwards, Moku πŸ’ͺ

I totally understand you. My dog had to have all of his teeth removed because of an infection that was weakening his jaws. I know it's not quite the same as having no eyes anymore. But it's as if those teeth had been taken out of me, while he continues to eat as if nothing had happened.
