This is retarded as fuck because they already do all of that without a digital ID but somehow it's going to be worse?
Didn't the UK arrest like 4000 people for social media posts?
1200 apparently but the digital ID will make it worse because it will be compulsory and linked to everything. Right now, like most state run things, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.
Id is compulsory though, had to be or you'll be undocumented which is also bad.
Digital is just the medium. Will it make it easier? I doubt it. Will it go offline? I'm sure daily.
Paperback is where it's at.
Imo though digital id would be great in Africa and South Africa. We have a lot of undocumented South Africans who lost their ID or it was stolen or destroyed in some ways. And getting one is cumbersome and exclusionary i.e. can't open a bank account (or anything) or get government services etc.
Digital will help bypass a lot of the process.
I don't see it being a bad thing, having a cryptographic proof of your identification card
Hmm it’s not a case of will be, it already is.
The counterpoint to the digital ID narrative is that our lives are already surveilled and our digital money (bank money) is already tied to our ID.
People should be more upset about the authorities getting rid of financial privacy and installing licence plate readers and surveillance cameras, with facial recognition, everywhere, not to mention all the online mass surveillance.
I agree but the digital ID ties them all together, enables one department to get information immediately from another. You get caught speeding in your car, your money is taken and your licence is marked. At the moment these things take months, sometimes get lost and you can appeal.
ID isn't compulsory here, not yet
What? That's crazy
Surely every country has some identification for citizens?
We have birth certificates, then national insurance nubdrs, a drivers licence and a passport. The first two you get automatically the others only if you want them/pass. We do not need to carry them with us and only recently have we needed them for renting a house, for example
Okay interesting set of documents. I think all countries have birth certificates it seems. In SA we get ID cards as well that is used for accounts, banks etc. and your ID number is a way to register you for services like health or police or whatever as birth certificates don't have that identification.
I suppose it's like a social security number but without the socialism
That's why I'm confused by the whole digital version outcry, because you'd have to take your papers in to the bank for a loan or something but now you could use your phone
It is more about the instant control they'll have. Everything linked allows them to control you without any checks or measures. Covid scam lockdown. You cannot leave your designated area, if you do you are automatically frozen out of society, banks, life. You smoke too much so you aren't allowed NHS treatment with anything to do with respiratory problems, you have had your allowance of meat so now you cannot buy any...
I think they might let us think we win by pulling back on Digital IDs while in reality, they'll just add some APIs for all the different DBs.
It's coming whatever we do. You may be right with their games they play. After all, they are so much smarter than us
If we get enough people off of slave currency and onto sovereign money, then we have a small chance.
But not if they listen yo that twat Saylor
