This was a fascinating read... After @rabble 's recent podcast with Rudy Fraser, I too was left with the impression "should this just be a Mastodon instance?" Bluesky's made an impressive go at getting to the million+ scale... but it seems they made the fatal mistake of getting there *before* figuring out certain crucial architectural decisions. Nostr seems to have a much more anti-fragile design than either Mastodon or Bluesky from the jump, so that will serve it well IF the crowds ever show up...
I’m confused. Was the person using a Blacksky PDS and the Blacksky mods decided to stop hosting their content? I mean Rudy is pretty clear that they have more strict moderation and content rules than Bluesky. In theory you should be able to migrate to a new PDS when the one you’re on stops hosting you. The relays should have all of your content. There are issues with the root key for the user which the user might lose. Sounds like growing pains. And a good way to push the atprotocol network to uphold its stated values. They aren’t there yet.
