🤖 BitBetBot went live in July 2025 with one mission: Prove that a Zap-only business model was possible. Odds have always been fair. No house edge in bets. In these ~9 months it has done: -Outgoing zaps: 1828 -Incoming zaps: 900 -574 notes -3435 replies -881+ bets -550 payouts The most commonly asked question and the one that should interest all you builders out there... was it profitable? Yes. 🤖 BitBetBot made a modest profit of approximately 15% of the capital invested in less than a year. But how? If odds were fair, how could you profit? Well that just goes to show how bad people are at guessing the price of Bitcoin in the immediate future. There's a lesson there. (Stay humble, stack sats!) In fact we were fully prepared for it to be the opposite and to hedge against bets outstanding on lnmarkets, but there was never a need. But gambling was never the point. The point is that zaps ⚡ are incredible and you can build all kinds of business models on top of them! Bets are just the simplest way to show that money goes in and money goes out. We've had our share of technical problems, especially over failed notifications and Nostr message routing. However we have always been there to manually refund any failed bets.
