Shosho streamers number one ask "we want to know when we have viewers on our live" About 6 months ago @BITKARROT released a new "room presence" addition to NIP-53 designed to help solve exactly this. But as far as I saw, no livestreaming client had implemented it yet. Well here's a demo of it on shosho.live ! I have modelled the UI on Whatnot, and will roll it out to our app in the next release. I am interested in your feedback streaming friends @Kieran @TheGrinder @mar is this useful? image

The room presence was created for nostrnests which has found its way into nip53 I think its a good idea to use it like that, also to shows the list of viewers like they do on twitch
Yes, it’s useful. I believe I’ve seen a similar feature on Discord. The first time I saw it, I didn’t fully understand how it worked, but after looking into it, it made sense. I often check the profiles of people who appear, and I recognize many of them because they use the same avatar they have on Nostr. I think streamers would find this useful. Some may choose to interact with a viewer when they enter the room, and viewers might also enjoy seeing their username or avatar appear on screen, which can encourage interaction. A simple list of viewers currently watching the stream, showing their avatars, would be a good approach.
Nice! This will be a cool feature for some streamers! Though, some viewers prefer to just lurk and not getting called out when they follow a channel or just watch a stream. This finally sunk in with Twitch streamers as well which is probably why many do not call out new follows via their bots in chat any more. ZS for example only displays people who have engaged in chat on the dashboard. I like it that way.
