I am somewhat relieved the UASF did not pan out. After observing the last few months, my preference has shifted from wanting BIP-110 to succeed to desiring a hard fork. I think a proof of work change is necessary. It is clear that regulated mining pools and tradfi have captured bitcoin.
Satoshi only made two more forum posts after he posted this: "It would have been nice to get this attention in any other context. WikiLeaks has kicked the hornet's nest, and the swarm is headed towards us."
I think he knew what was coming and understandably sought anonymity.
IMO a proof of work change was probably needed quite some time ago. The Byzantine generals should not have been deciding when to attack, but when to retreat.
I hope that discussions for whether or not a proof of work change is proposed occurs on github discussions, nostr, or somewhere else without retarded kyc. Discord, X, Telegram all require a phone number verification, which is dumb. @Léo

Same here. I would still be happy if UASF succeeded but now it showed us what the reality.
Most likely it means that Bitcoin as a whole is captured and can't be a hope any more. Yes VCs, institutions and shitcoiners will pump it but even at this moment it is controlled by miners, who are controlled by state. This version of Bitcoin will not be able to separate money from state.
We will need another alternative that is trully decentralized and can serve as a Hope for Humanity Freedom Money.
Bitcoin is captured man, the game is over.
I literally wouldn't have said yes before this moment but, Now I have to learn a whole new network. Maybe I will.
I don't share that thought. Its main objective is privacy which is fine, there is a market for that feature
but I don't think auditability can be trusted, or inflation bug can be caught because of the privacy features
and also I don't like the inflation of the coins. I get it that its useful for private payments and I do love privacy
but for sound money I think limited supply and auditability is more important.
Also if such an attack is executed against Monero its hard to say if the deeps state won't be able to capture it as well.
But its good to have it as an option.
The number of eyes on bitcoin grew tremendously since 2009.
The number of people who understand sound money and how bitcoin fulfills that void in world economics did not grow much since 2009. You can use node count as a metric for estimating the number of individuals who see the need to separate money from state. If you include core nodes, there are 100,000 people max out of the worldwide population of 8.3B who understand the need for sound money. The number of people who truly understand what makes bitcoin special is likely somewhere between 10-20k worldwide. This shows that while bitcoin was known to the general public, we failed in educating the masses about what is purposes and promises are/were.
This is why a proof of work change can be so powerful for us. It buys us time. It not only preserves bitcoin as a sound money, but it provides a method of resetting whenever the powers at be sabotage sound money. We rug them every time. Between 2009 and 2026, we can say that we saw the number of people understanding the need for sound money grew from a few cypherpunks on a remailing list to 20-100k individuals worldwide. That's impressive, but it is a long way off from separating money from state. This is likely a generational war for good money.
The way I see it, is that it isn't the chain that defines bitcoin, but the principles laid out in the whitepaper. If any chain ceases to uphold the principles of sound money bitcoin was designed for, it ceases to be bitcoin and a new chain or new fork is required. This is a feature, not a bug. It rugs spammers, scammers, and suits every time they attempt a hostile takeover. It may set us back in terms of "fiat value," but who cares? I sure don't. I care more about the morality of the matter.
The beautiful thing that we learned today is that there is a massive demand worldwide for a money that is stateless (because what we learned today is that there exists no such thing). This is a massive opportunity for any of us willing to stick with it in the long run.
I see a lot of people talking about monero, but in my opinion this is a massive mistake. It includes a tail emission (inflationary), which is a weapon of fiat and Keynesian economics. It should be treated as a hostile money as well.
Agree, interesting times. But I am a bit sad at the moment.
I really had hope in Bitcoin and thought its more decentralized.
I get the roles of miners but I thought that if US miners are captured, the Chinese won't be or vice versa. But thats not the reality.
Btc cash v2 incoming? 😂
I love that!!!! ❤
As for the fiat value, we still have our coins. VCs, institutions, grifters, shitcioners will pump our bags and I am not emotionally attached to a captured Bitcoin any more so I can sell whenever I decide to.
We need new clean alternative and to grow if from a small seed to a tree again. A Bitcoin Freedom Money that separates again money from state. And if needed we will rug scammers again. Its a feature not a bug ❤❤❤
The market are the people! We are the economy, we are the users, the hodlers, the soul of Bitcoin. And centralized slavery shitcoins like Ethereum and Solana have never been for us with their scams and rug pulls and degenerate nfts. If Big Bitcoin is turning into Ethereum 2.0 it will not be for us too.
I can speak for myself and I need new alternative that gives me hope for humanity.
It is a lot actually, truly a lot.
Its the truth, its the reality and that is all I need.
it beyond retarded the way you people are behaving.
Core 30 was when the changes were made to allow bigger blocks (making Btc more similar to BCH)
Nah. Tik tok next block brah. Nothing stops this train
or find a way to orange pill the hashers that are working for pools, and get them to make their own bloody templates with datum or stratumv2
we spent so long orange pilling merchants and regular folks, but forget that the most important people that needs orangepilling are the hashers all along.
Ocean is hope to decentralize miners but when and if that will happen?
the option is there. problem is getting the hashers to understand and use it
The good news is that we have options, we have Satoshi's blueprints with accumulated knowledge and experience and we will be able to find solution to be free.
What does proof of work entail?
What if periodic PoW changes were part of the protocol? Chosen in some way that would not be predictable far in advance? Thinking out loud
Well we will need to adapt.
My heart was in Bitcoin Freedom Money and I was preparde to hodl down to the bottom or up to the Moon.
But captured Corecoin is not my thing. It can only pump my bag untill better alternative is on the horizon.
I was just thiking ... did the Torrent protocl turned out to be more resiliant than Bitcoin? Or was it not hit with such attack? (although the music and film industry together with the US government hit it very hard) Or were the Torrent protocol lead developers based af and not compromised and corrupted cucks like Core?
I don't think Bittorrent faced anything like what Bitcoin has. It was never an existential threat to the debt-based system. I'm not throwing in the towel on Bitcoin yet, but the level of capture is grim.
Core. The miners. Post Quantum upgrade is probably next. The consortium and the redteam are big upgrades to the capture machinery ... It's grim.
As you say, the mission isn't Bitcoin. The mission is freedom money. If Bitcoin is captured beyond repair, we will have to learn from it and build a version that can stay decentralized and secure. The fact that we made it this far means we were very very close.
ColdCard, Boltz, Zeus, BTCPayServer ...
Misinformation by the mossad Udi that BIP-110 is postponed, published on tradingview and elsewhere
Simpfluencers industrial complex, VCs shitcoiners industrial complex, Epstein assiciates ...
true that
Many things are now clear. Let us regroup at the raised bar making the most of what has been achieved
Good luck stopping the cap increase that is incoming.
