It’s funny,
I recently lost my Spotify premium because it was bundled in another deal that expired
So I thought , let’s see how bad the free version is before I just sub again, expecting some annoying ads.
But I found out, they are also NERFING YOUR PLAYBACK options
If you want to control how you listen, or even skip back to a song, or just listen to a playlist in its original order, YOU MUST PAY.
All this to say:
Your punishment for not paying is NOT TO BE ABLE TO CONTROL YOUR FEED
That’s how valuable USER CONTROLLED feeds are

Buy an iPod.
can I use an iPod with Linux?
Don't know. Maybe we need to build a new one. Lpod.
Exactly! This is why user-controlled feeds are priceless. Free isn’t really free if you lose control over what you listen to. Paying isn’t just for no ads, it’s for freedom over your own experience.
I'll probably just pay for premium, but it was small realization in that *user control* is becoming a luxury... and all the more bullish for nostr ⚡⚡🤙
😂
have been able to since at least 2007
i don't think the UX was great for some years tho
Buy vinyl.
How about now?
I tried a few years ago via iTunes on Wine... it was probably due to my lack of know-how, but I couldn't get iTunes to recognize the usb device (though, I think Linux itself could recognize it as an external drive).
So, I gave up, and I still keep a copy of Windows 10 on its own external drive just so I can boot it up to refresh my playlist every couple weeks or so. 😅 It's a pain in the butt, but I'm still not ready to give up my iTunes.
