Two years later there were articles about companies finally achieving cellphone technology that could work above around 500ft. Minor detail

CeeCee found signal at 20 000ft and it was super clear too
lol. even CDMA can't reach that far. let alone from inside an aluminium can with barely any holes in it, and definitely none in line of sight. the actual line of sight distance is probably 3x further. that is about 30 miles.
