My first computer was running on windows for 5 years.
My second one on macos for 12 years.
My third one is the second transitioned to #linux.
Fisrt installed kubuntu. Struggled to make everything work (especially wifi and touchpad gestures). Got insecure for adfing many packages and user rights, and fed up by the ui and the multiple layers of information (and forums) to go through. Learnt a lot though.
Then started over with #ubuntu, ready to fight. But everything worked like a breeze, no further "manual"/cli action to take.
It feels like windows vs. macos on ui and ux.
On tracks for 12 more years?

Ubuntu is the best, been using it for years and never looked back. It's closest to MacOS since it's UNIX like but way less bulky and more customizable and ofc open source.
Thanks for sharing. I always enjoy hearing the perspectives of people who are new to Linux and better understanding what the pain points are.
I'm glad to hear you stuck with it and found a distro that worked well on your Apple hardware without a bunch of extra effort on your part. ❤️
