I grew up with parents who grew up poor in Greece. In my mind, real wealth isn't owning expensive cars and big houses.
Wealth is not needing to scrape every last bit out of the jar.

I feel wealthy in part *because* I scrape every last bit. Maybe itβs a difference between wanting to and having to.
I don't know. I know my dad tought me to scratch the last bit out of the jar for himself having lived hunger after the war. I will teach my children to do so, too because it just feels right so deeply. I would feel so arrogant, throughing away a spoon full. Food is somehow intrinsically valuable even though we have plenty now.
That said and seeing your dad tought you the same, I hope you still don't waste the mayo ;)
I may not longer *need* to scrape the jar, but I sure as shit will continue scraping it! That is instilled in me forever. π
It is. And that in turn means freedom. Not having to think about money that often.
Wealth is having more money than you owe. True wealth is not owing anything.

Wealth means different things to different people and invokes different images. For some, it is lavish excess. For others, it is basic financial security. Still others, it means having assets pay for their basic living expenses. Hoping everyone finds their "wealth" in 2024 π€πΌ
What you own, owns you back.
For me, wealth is the peace-of-mind from having the resources to deal with the unexpected.

Unless it's toothpaste. I don't care how wealthy that I am, I'm squeezing that tube dry.

Forever Laura
I could be a billionaire and Iβd still scrap every last bit out of a jar. Waste not, want not.
