I'm a big fan of small and simple. Not tons of modes and features. I have several of these sub-$20 little beasties and none have ever failed me. Bright enough for anything I have ever needed, and cheap enough that I don't much care if I lose one. Also takes AAA so I can get a battery anywhere vs needing to recharge via USB.

I have 3 of these. I like that it has a 5 lumen and a 180. Also takes 3.7V LION rechargeables as well as AAA. It's my normal EDC if I know I'm not going to dark places. Otherwise I'll carry something larger.
